Patch 2.2.1 Hotfix and Current Issues

A small hotfix takes care of one issue, while others are investigated

Diablo III Hotfixes
A handful of issues have cropped up or continued into Diablo III patch 2.2.1, which went live last week. A hotfix took care of one oddity with the Akarat's Champion - Prophet rune. Other problems being investigated include an issue with Rift Guardians who spawn tornadoes, Witch Doctor fetishes not shooting darts when they're supposed to, and ongoing client performance issues.

Patch 2.2.1 Hotfixes
The first hotfix since the patch fixed a rare issue with the Crusader Akarat's Champion - Prophet rune.
Below you will find a list of hotfixes recently applied or coming soon that address various bugs or mechanic tweaks.

These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.

Last updated May 21. Hotfixes are denoted by the date they were applied to live servers.

Previous Hotfixes: [2.2.0]

[UPCOMING HOTFIXES]

Crusader
  • Fixed an issue where if a player received fatal damage at the exact moment Akarat's Champion (Prophet) ended, the buff would be maintained permanently (5/21)

Rift Guardian Tornado Bug
An issue has cropped up with Rift Guardians who spawn tornadoes, such as Sand Shaper and Saxtris. Players facing those bosses at this time can kite them away from the swirling tornadoes, to avoid them.
There is a bug with tornado behavior, and you'll see this somewhat confused wandering with any Rift Guardian that summons tornadoes (Sand Shaper and Saxtris included). We're currently investigating this issue.

To clarify, the tornadoes aren't attempting to stay close to their summoner; they're just changing directions too quickly. As a result, they won't travel very far from their spawn point. The behavior of the enemies themselves should be unchanged so, in the meantime, kiting the Rift Guardian away from a cluster of tornadoes should yield more desirable results.

Carnevil Fetish Issue
The Witch Doctor voodoo mask Carnevil is a popular choice for certain builds, since it makes Fetishes shoot a Poison Dart along with the Witch Doctor. That functionality can break right now. Reportedly if the Witch Doctor dies or changes areas (including teleporting back to town and then returning) the Fetishes will start working again.
We're currently looking into an issue where Fetishes sometimes forget to shoot despite the fact the Witch Doctor has a Carnevil equipped. We'll be sure to give you all an update once we have more details to share, but we're not there just yet. Thank you all for the reports, and good hunting out there!

Performance Issues in 2.2.1
Since patch 2.2.0 arrived, certain PCs have had serious performance issues running the game. This can include very low frame rate and stuttering. Patch 2.2.1 included some fixes for the issue. Any players who have issues that started since patch 2.2.0 can follow the steps, to submit data to the Quality Assurance team.
Hey folks,

I'm sorry to see that the update didn't help resolve this issue. Our QA team would like some files from those of you that are still experiencing this issue. I know a lot of your have already sent that info in, but it'd help to get those files again now that the patch was released.

If you get the chance, please send the following info to forumtech@blizzard.com:

  • The contents of your D3Prefs.txt file located in your Documents\Diablo III
  • A description of what you're doing when experiencing this issue. For example, what are you doing in-game and are you in a specific area.
  • While playing, are you running any applications in the background? Maybe something like youtube, netflix, spotify, etc...
  • Attach your MSInfo and DXDIAG.
