Rift Experience Exploit is Hotfixed

Hotfixes for two bugs, and other issues that will require a client patch

Hotfixes in Diablo III Patch 2.1
Two big hotfixes have rolled out for Diablo III, including a fix for an experience exploit that was being utilized to quickly gain Paragon Levels. Other bugs have been investigated recently and cannot be taken care of with a hotfix, but will instead be removed in a Diablo III client patch. The latest Blizzard Blues posts detail both sets of bugs, and what we can expect to see fixed in an upcoming patch.

Hotfixes for Moratorium and Experience Exploit
Two major bugs were hotfixed on Monday. The first was for the Legendary gem Moratorium. As previously reported, the gem could actually kill characters that should have been kept from dying by a skill like Indestructible or Awareness. That is now hotfixed, and the gem should interact properly with those skills.

The other big hotfix squashed an exploit that allowed characters to get dramatically more experience than they should have, when completing a Nephalem Rift or Greater Rift. If a character was sitting in town when the Rift was completed in a high Torment difficulty, the experience rewarded was many times greater than it should have been. This was abused by certain players to quickly gain experience, boosting their character's Paragon Levels. That bug was hotfixed across all the Diablo III regions, so Rift completion experience isn't multiplied by the game difficulty setting.
The following hotfix is now live. There are no upcoming hotfixes to report at this time.

Nephalem Rifts and Greater Rifts:
  • Experience gained from Greater Rifts is no longer inflated by the game mode difficulty (9/8)

Ramaladni's Gift Not Showing Up
The powerful consumable Ramaladni's Gift adds a socket to weapons. A bug keeps that item's name from displaying when it drops, and sometimes the Legendary beam of light also does not show. So keep a special eye out for the drop, until it can be fixed in a patch.

And it is kinda sad to know that this could be hotfixed within an hour of work but Blizzard obviously doesn't feel like it :(

This actually isn't something that can be hotfixed, as it requires a fix to client-side data (which means a patch). We are, however, aware of this issue and plan to address it in an upcoming patch. :)

For those who are unaware, Ramaladni's Gift is currently not displaying its name when it drops on the ground. We believe this may also be causing the Legendary star notification on your minimap to occasionally not display when one drops. As has been mentioned, this is a bug, and it's currently on our radar to be addressed in a future patch. In the meantime, be sure to keep a sharp eye (or ear, as the case may be) out for these little green cubes.

Thanks for the reports, all!

Means I probably have missed more than I thought. I've only successfully found 2. Ugh. Need way more to drop. 2 in ~50 hrs... No

They're actually quite rare, so it's unlikely that you've missed many. I've yet to find my first one since the patch (though I had found one during the PTR).

Patch for Bane of the Trapped Issue
The ongoing issue with the Legendary gem Bane of the Trapped will also need a client patch to be fixed. The gem does not activate properly from many item procs, which makes it less useful than it could be, especially for characters who use weapons that should be activating it.

Thank you very much for the good news. I know this is request upon request but if/when this fix comes through will we be able to receive a notification?

It looks like this particular fix will require a patch. I have no ETA to provide at this time, but this is not something we can currently address via a hotfix.

We try to make sure these kinds of updates make it into our patch notes, so do keep an eye out for it there in the future!

Knock Back on Monsters
The Legendary Strongarm Bracers increase damage done to knocked back monsters, which ties in well with skills like the Barbarian's Furious Charge. That only works on monsters that can be knocked back; many large and elite creatures are immune to it.

They work. Just not against monsters that matter. (Bigger monsters, elites.)

I think this is an element of the equation that often gets overlooked when discussing how Strongarm bracers work. Strongarms are definitely working with Furious Charge, but only on monsters that suffer some kind of "knockback" effect.

Not So Long Arm of the Law
The Crusader rune Laws of Hope - Stop Time is not extended beyond the base 3 second duration, even when the passive Long Arm of the Law is used. Grimiku reiterated that this is intended, although the animation incorrectly still shows it as active for 8 seconds; that will be fixed in a future patch.
It is intended that empowering Laws of Hope - Stop Time with the Long Arm of the Law passive only lasts 3 seconds instead of 8. It's an update that was implemented recently in a hotfix, which you can read more about right here.

The reason we made this change was to prevent groups of Crusaders from taking turns with empowering the law to create unending immortality. However, there is still a bug with it where the bubble animation is still animating for 8 seconds instead of 3.
