I just wanted to offer some opinions on my experience of this game as it is right now. If you don't want to read the upcoming wall of text, basically in its current form I like this game alot and I just want to say thank you to the devs for making this game so much better than it was at launch. Hopefully they can see this and realise not everyone is constantly complaining and moaning all the time; some of us have fun :) Some background on me - Diablo II is probably one of my favourite games of all time; I used to play it alot as a teen. My parents didn't let me play video games during the weekdays so I would really look forward to the weekends just to play Diablo II. I loved the gear grind, I loved the trading of items, I loved the combat, I loved Windforce and I loved Breath of the Dying. Man the first time I got an Eagle I was so excited 'Yes! My Amazon is now epic' I said to myself. And then the beautiful weapon that is Windforce dropped and I was so excited. It's still probably one of my favourite weapons in any game ever. Just the name, the look, the feel. Anyway, long story short I was obsessed with Diablo II. When Diablo III launched I wasn't actually that excited about the game. This was nearly a decade after playing Diablo II and I was into other games like MMOs etc. So my expectations were not necessarily that high. Still, I got the game, pumped 100 hours into it. I actually had quite a bit of fun, I didn't hate it like everyone else, but there was definitely something missing, it didn't make me feel the same way Diablo II did. I personally think it's mostly down to the Real Money auction House and loot system. None of the items I got (or eventually bought) felt special or fun. Then Reaper of Souls launched and in my honest opinion it's been upwards ever since then. Loot 2.0 was such a positive move in the right direction. Of course getting rid of the RMAH was fantastic and having useful stuff drop is much better than before. Nephalem Rifts added great endgame content and Adventure Mode in general is a fantastic idea. Now with patch 2.2 in my opinion things are better than ever. Greater Rifts are a great endgame progression system. Not only do they add endless amount of content (noone has even got close to beating the hardest rank 100) they're also really challenging. I actually feel like I'm having fun being challenged in a solo GR. Then there's the items; I personally love the new set items and their bonuses. My Rolands looks so cool and makes me feel so badass when I charge across the field and bash a demon in the face. That special feeling I got when Furnace dropped, was a very similar feeling to when I got Windforce (not as good a feeling, mind). I'm really getting a similar feeling to what I got in Diablo II. I personally feel Diablo II is a better game but then again I was younger, less jaded and cynical and things like video games were more magical. Plus there's nostalgia to consider. I just personally want to say this game is great game in my opinion, it's not perfect, but then what game is? Thank you to everyone who made it what it is today. |

But i guess perfection is different for all of us. Very much this... perfection is in the eye of the beholder :-) Every game is perfect and every game is the worst piece of crap that have ever been made. Which is the case for everything where subjectivity is involved, but that doesn't mean that perfection should not be a goal to strive for (I know this is a rather trite thing to say, but it is true nonetheless). When it comes to Diablo III, we are happy to see that our efforts to make the game more fun have not gone unnoticed (this thread would not exist otherwise), but we are not done yet. We are continuously working on improving the game, and feedback from you guys (both positive and negative) certainly is a big help to us, so I just wanted to thank you guys for that :-) |
