PTR Season 2 Arrives for Diablo III Patch 2.1.0

Testing the rollover from Season 1 to Season 2 on the PTR

Diablo III - Seasons Introduction
Diablo III PC Patch 2.1 will bring a Seasons feature. Seasonal characters are an entirely new start, that are kept separate from regular Diablo III characters. They are being tested in the patch 2.1.0 Public Test Realm right now, with the rollover from PTR Season 1 to Season 2. This tests what will happen at the end of each Diablo III Season, and the preparation for a new one. Read on for the details on that, and the latest bugs and issues on the PTR.

Testing from Season 1 to Season 2
When a Diablo III Season ends, all the progress made on Seasonal characters will roll over to the standard account. A fast test of the process is happening on the PTR, to make sure it will happen smoothly. Lylirra detailed how the sequence will work on the PTR.

UPDATE 6:15 p.m. PDT:

PTR Season 1 has successfully closed and maintenance has concluded. PTR Season 2 is now live. A server-wide message will appear once new Seasonal heroes can be created (so keep your eyes peeled).

In addition, we will be wiping all Leaderboards and Personal Best Records in approximately 30 minutes.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone,

At approximately 2:00 p.m. PT today, we will be closing "Season 1" on the PTR. Leading up to the end of the Season, all PTR participants who are in a Seasonal game will receive a 30 minute countdown. When the countdown ends, all Seasonal games will be immediately closed and the current Season will be over.

PTR Season 1 Roll-Over:

After PTR Season 1 has ended, the Season roll-over will begin. During the roll-over, your Seasonal heroes, inventory, shared stash, and Paragon experience will be transferred to your non-Seasonal profile.

Normal heroes, inventory, shared stash, and Paragon experience will transfer to your Normal non-Seasonal profile. Similarly, Hardcore heroes, inventory, shared stash, and Paragon experience will transfer to your Hardcore non-Seasonal profile.

  • Heroes: At the end of a Season, your Seasonal heroes will become non-Seasonal heroes. They will appear in your normal roster. Any items, equipped or in the hero’s inventory, will roll-over with the hero itself.
  • Shared Stash: Items in your Seasonal heroes’ shared stash will be mailed to your Normal/Hardcore non-Seasonal profile. These items can be retrieved by entering a game on any non-Seasonal hero and clicking on the mail icon located in the lower left of your screen.
  • Currency: Gold will be automatically transferred from your Seasonal profile to your non-Seasonal profile. Ditto for http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/13733483374?page=3#42" class="bml-link-url2">Blood Shards</a>.
  • Paragon Experience: Paragon experience earned during a Season will transfer over directly without any additional involvement required from players. All Paragon experience will transfer, with experience gained by Normal Seasonal heroes going to the account’s Normal non-Seasonal profile, and experience gained by Hardcore Seasonal characters going to the account’s Hardcore non-Seasonal profile. (Note: Non-Paragon experience will not transfer.)
  • Artisans and Crafting Plans: If your Seasonal Artisans are a higher level than your non-Seasonal Artisans, their level will transfer at the end of the season to your non-Seasonal profile. Any recipes you have on your Seasonal Artisans that are not available to your non-Seasonal Artisans will be transferred as well.

If you experience any issues with the roll-over, please let us know in this thread, and provide as many details as possible. The more information we have, the better we’ll be able to identify and address the core problem.

PTR Season 2 Pre-Season:

Approximately 2 hours after PTR Season 1 concludes (around 4:00 p.m. PT), we'll take the PTR down for a short maintenance. This maintenance is anticipated to last for roughly 1 to 2 hours.

Once maintenance ends and the PTR is brought back online, PTR Season 2 will be in what’s called "pre-season." During this pre-season phase:

  • Heroes: You will not be able to create Seasonal heroes or play Seasonal games.
  • Achievements: All PTR Season 1 achievements will be wiped. However, you will still be able to view your Seasonal achievement point total and completed Conquests in your hero Profile.
  • Leaderboards: All Leaderboard and Personal Best records from PTR Season 1 will still be viewable in both the Profile and Leaderboard screens.

PTR Season 2 Begins:

Sometime after 5:30 p.m. PT, PTR Season 2 will begin and all PTR participants will receive an in-game notification. At this time, Seasonal heroes and Seasonal games can be created. In addition, the Seasonal shared stash, Paragon experience, currency, artisans, achievements, leaderboards, and Personal Best records will all be reset.

Please note that all times provided are estimate and subject to change.
Please note that Season duration on the PTR will not be indicative of Season duration in the live game. :)

Please, can you explain what is going to happen if we already have all characters slots full in the normal roster? The seasonal character its going to be added in a new character slot?

In order to create a Seasonal hero, you'll need to have an empty character slot in your roster. If you do not have an empty character slot at the start of a Season, you will need to first delete one of your active heroes.

Will achievements earned in season mode also be rolled over to non-season and granted there (if you didnt previously have them in non-season)?

Under current design, if you unlock an achievement on a Seasonal hero that you haven't already unlocked on a non-Seasonal hero, you'll gain credit for both at the same time.

1. Does gold count as "inventory" and will also be transferred?

2. Other progress such as artisan levels or crafting plans your artisans have learned will not be transferred/refunded in any way, right?

3. I second one of the questions above - what happens if your normal roster stash doesn't have enough space for all the items in your seasonal stash?

1. Gold will be automatically transferred from your Seasonal profile to your non-Seasonal profile. Ditto for Blood Shards.

2. If your Seasonal Artisan is higher level, its level should transfer at the end of the season. Any recipes you have on your Seasonal Artisan that are not on your non-Seasonal Artisan are transferred as well.

3. All items within the Seasonal stash will be mailed to your non-Seasonal profile at the end of the season. These items aren't automatically placed in your non-Seasonal stash, so you can wait and make room first before claiming them (if needed). Under current design, mailed items from your Seasonal stash will remain available for 30 days after a Season has ended.

Note: Seasonal heroes will be separated by mode, i.e. Normal and Hardcore. Normal Seasonal heroes will become Normal non-Seasonal heroes, and Hardcore Seasonal heroes will become Hardcore non-Seasonal heroes. Paragon experience, Artisan levels, items, gold, etc earned by Seasonal heroes will transfer to the appropriate non-Seasonal mode.

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that a seasonal character already takes up one of the slots and thus it will simply stay in that slot, but have its seasonal tag removed.

Correct.
Quick note about Blood Shards and Season roll-overs:

When transferring over your Blood Shards from your Seasonal profile to your non-Seasonal profile, we will temporarily ignore the 500 cap.

For example, let's say my Seasonal profile has 200 Blood Shards and my non-Seasonal profile has 400. At the end of a Season, the 200 shards from my Seasonal profile will combine with the stack of 400 from my non-Seasonal profile, giving me 600 shards total (not 500, the normal cap). This is deliberate.

The caveat here is that players will be unable to pick up any more Blood Shards until they drop below 500.

What will happen to legendary gems? Will their levels add to those of the same non-seasonal legendary gems? Will you have two of such gems? Or will it simply end up being the higher level gem becomes the non-seasonal gem?

Under current design, you'll have two of such gems.

We will be performing a PTR-wide wipe for all Leaderboards this evening as well. This wipe will be global (i.e. it'll affect Seasonal and non-Seasonal Leaderboards).

Quick heads up regarding a known issue with Seasons and Leaderboards:

Seasons and Leaderboards
  • The leaderboard is not repopulating with new standings when changing between the current and previous seasons in the Seasons drop-down filter
    • Note: See the post below for a workaround to view Season 2's rankings.

  • The "New Seasons" UI that appears when a new season is initiated currently contains incorrect/placeholder items and art assets

Please note that there is a temporary workaround in place for the following Leaderboard issue:

  • The leaderboard is not repopulating with new standings when changing between the current and previous seasons in the Seasons drop-down filter

Following the steps below will allow you to view the Season 2 leaderboard standings:
  • Open up the leaderboard and browse to the specific category you wish to view the standings for.
  • You will notice that the season dropdown above the ranking list will be blank.
  • Click the drop-down menu and select "Season 2 (Current)".
  • Close the leaderboard and log out of the game completely.
  • Log back into the game and return to the leaderboard section you were attempting to view rankings for.
  • The rankings you are viewing now will be Season 2 rankings.

  • Please note that selecting Season 1 to view the previous season's rankings will cause you to have to repeat these steps to view the new season's rankings again.

    PTR Patch 2.1.0 Known Issues
The latest PTR patch brought a number of changes, along with a bunch of bugs and issues. The list has grown substantially, of the major issues being tracked by the Diablo III quality assurance team.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Patch 2.3.0 Public Test Realm! Below you will find the Known Issues list for our current 2.3.0 build - 33174. Please do not report bugs that you see on this list, as we already know about them, and please help out other players reporting bugs by referring them to this list.

As a reminder, this list will not list every bug that is active on the 2.3.0 PTR. What it is listed here are a select few issues -- chosen due to visibility and impact -- that are active and confirmed as bugs by Quality Assurance with verifiable steps and (in most cases) an expected fix. Just because a bug is not on this list does not mean we don't know about it! In addition, potential exploits and the like will never be listed here.

Please note that documented bugs may not always be fixed in the order in which they were reported. In some cases, we may not have a timeline for a when a bug will be fixed and some bugs may not be able to be fixed at all. If we are able to verify that a documented bug cannot be fixed, it will be removed from this list.

Thank you for your continued reports, and enjoy Diablo III!!!

    Achievements
    • The Level one “Cubist” Achievement progress bar displays incorrectly in the Achievements UI

    Combat
    • Wizard - Archon: Entering Archon form will not break fear effects caused by Nightmarish monsters
