You just CUBED item hunting out of a loot hunt game?(1)Category: GeneralAugust-28-2015 6:10 AM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Sweet cube bro!

It has racing stripes and is complete with 7 noob friendly modes all designed to effectively reduce the time you spend playing this title. The new streamlined interface ensures you won't have to deal with traditional dungeon farming like the idiots of yore. Simply follow these 3 steps:

1) Go ahead and blood shard for rares while cheaply upgrading to the legs you want in 1/10th time you would spend searching for them. No messy time wasted farming for you!

2) Transmute the missing set item into the set item you wanted so you can set set set item your set for complete character customization, provided of course your wearing a set. (you probably will want to wear the set, all builds are dictated by sets *insider tip*), now you don't even have to search for them!

3) Once you've located that ultra rare item by simply spawning endless cheap targeted legendaries simply use one of the trendy noob recipies to reroll the item into ancient quality.

Once you've completed these three simple steps you can quit knowing that you beat the system by cutting down your total gameplay time and enjoyment by 1000%

Psh, imagine those suckers playing Diablo 2 and trading the items they found or customizing their characters through meaningful skill choices to achieve progression. Luckily in Diablo 3, 2.3 we've taken all the grind out of the title and replaced it with an escalator labeled success! Please note the elevator is in the form of a cube.

All sarcasm aside I was initially pumped at the mechanics of the cube but after only a VERY short while have realized just how horrible this is for the health of the title.

Blizz you have just eviscerated the whole spirit behind a dungeon crawler, namely item rarity and hunting. You just gave players a "shopping list of items" they wanted, which is something you DIRECTLY said you would not do. As a result the only point of playing this title is the hilariously poor Greater Rift mechanic which is already plagued and dominated by bots which remove any competitive aspect. Afterall, in a game where anyone can get any item in a stupidly short amount of time, the only remaining enjoyment would be perfecting stats through endless tedious grinding. Which sounds a lot like something bots excel at...

In short you just trivialized the only real reason to play this game: the item hunt.

Unless this is some kind of backhanded method to push the only real thing you seem to care about: seasons. I think you may just do that and lose a massive chunk of your now bored and disillusioned player base in the process.

*applause*

There's constructive criticism and discourse, and then there's name-calling and one-sided discussion.

Only the latter is going to get your topic locked.
