Two days ago I patched my game to the 2.4 patch, and have since been unable to play. Whenever i attempt to log in (both when starting with and without the battle.net launcher), I am presented with the error "You have attempted to connect to an invalid server. Please exit the game, then try logging in again. (Code 520)"

I've looked around online, but haven't been able to find a solution as of yet. Here's what I have tried so far:
-Disabling all background applications (as suggested by https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/error-520 )
-Reinstalling the game (several times).
-Clearing battle.net cache (Battle.net and Blizzard folders in C:\ProgramData).
-Disabling firewalls and antivirus.
-Changing region in the battle.net launcher (both Americas, Asia and Europe).
-Removing my authenticator (and reattaching it after unsuccessful login).
-Changing DNS in my router.
-Forwarding ports (TCP: 80, 1119 - UDP: 1119, 6120 - as suggested by https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/configuring-router-and-firewall-ports ).
-Completely bypassing my router.
-Scanning my pc for malware.

I'm not entirely sure this was caused by the actual patch itself, as I haven't played diablo in a while. I can log in on my laptop as well as on my friend's pc (which are on the same network, tried both ethernet and wifi), just not on my own desktop computer.

Note: I usually play on the european server, but I changed my region to Americas to patch when it wasn't released on the european servers yet. Could this have had any impact whatsoever?

That's an odd one. It might be some hidden malware or leftover security software causing havoc, our Support team may be able to spot the problem for you.

Can you please make a ticket? It'll help greatly if you could generate and attach a MSInfo file to your ticket right away.
