Fearless #1205 | Random Screen Freezes While in Game(1) | Category: Technical SupportMay-12-2016 4:20 PM PDT (9 years ago) |
My screen/game has been randomly freezing while playing the game, not dependent on area, difficulty, or video settings. When this happens it seems to randomly dip from ~100 fps to 20-30 for a half second or so. My system specs are I5-4690k, Radeon R9 390, 16 Gb Ram. It's not thermal throttling as I have kept track of thermals, and cpu usage is hovering around 75% while everything is set ultra at 100 fps. |

Fearless, It's not thermal throttling as I have kept track of thermals 1. What are your CPU and GPU temps when the system is idle, and 15 minutes after starting the game? 2. Please post your DXDIAG file (Not the MSInfo) so we can get more information about your computer. Here's a support article that will show you how to get the DXDIAG: Obtaining System Files Once you have the DXDIAG file, open it and copy/paste the entire file into your next reply. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Customer Support Contact Information Got some feedback? |

Fearless, Let's try running a selective startup to see if that helps. Please be aware that running while in this mode can potentially disable any security programs you may have running. Here's a support article with steps on how run the selective startup: Closing Background Applications ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Customer Support Contact Information Got some feedback? |

Fearless, Let's try doing a complete uninstall and reinstall of the video driver. To uninstall the current driver, you are going to want to use a program called Display Driver Uninstaller. This program will ensure that all previous driver files are completely removed. Here's a link where the Display Driver Uninstaller program can be downloaded. Once you have that downloaded and installed, try the following steps: 1. Run Display Driver Uninstaller. 2. You will be asked if you want to reboot into safe mode, click on "No". 3. Select "AMD" from the "Select Graphic Driver" drop down menu. 4. Click on the "Clean and restart" button. After the system restarts, the video driver should be completely uninstalled so the graphics should look larger than usual. That's normal and it'll fix itself when the video driver is reinstalled. Now that the driver is gone, we can go ahead with reinstalling it. Here's a link for the driver download: AMD Driver Once there, you are going to want to download the Crimson Edition 16.5.2 Hotfix. ______________________________________________________ I'm available Monday through Friday from 11AM to 8PM Pacific Time Customer Support Contact Information Got some feedback? |
