Tapion #1388 | Display goes black unless connected to an external screen(1) | Category: Technical SupportMarch-7-2016 11:20 AM PST (9 years ago) |
Hey guys, I recently installed D3 on my notebook, which meets all the requirements to play the game. The problem is that it only works if I plug the notebook to an external screen via HDMI, and when I do, the game appears not only on the external screen but also y my laptop's screen (so it is not impossible for it to play the game). But when no external screen is connected, I start the game and the display goes black, but I can hear the game music. ¿Can anybody please help me with this? I have tried changing the screen resolution and the text size (which only got me to see the mouse in the screen) Thanks a lot and sorry for the bad english! |

Tapion, Could you please post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Press Windows Key + R. Type DxDiag and press Enter. In the DxDiag window, at the bottom, click Save All Information. Name the file "dxdiag" and click Save. (note where it's been saved so you can find it) Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos |

Tapion, What device (brand/model) are you using for the external screen? When it's connected, does it also mirror whatever is on your main display? ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos |

Tapion, unless I chose "Monitor Only" Where are you seeing that option? ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos |

Tapion, I'd suggest setting it to Extend Display. You might also want to try editing the D3Prefs.txt file. Change these lines DisplayModeWinWidth "1920" DisplayModeWinHeight "1020" to DisplayModeWinWidth "1280" DisplayModeWinHeight "720" This resolution is most likely for a TV which really isn't a supported display device. They usually can be made to work though but they sometimes require different settings such as using windowed mode and making sure vsync is on. For that, these lines should also be changed DisplayModeWindowMode "0" Vsync "0" to DisplayModeWindowMode "1" Vsync "1" ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos |
