D3 in OSX El Capitan can't change language(1)Category: Mac Technical SupportOctober-1-2015 5:10 PM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
I have a "CLEAN" install of El Capitan on a macbook pro. After I re-install the D3 and download the language pack, I can't change the language in the game. There is no option to select in the "SELECT LANGUAGE" function. What can I do for this?

Can you go into the Battle.net App and see if we can change the settings through there?

1. Open the Battle.net App and click the Logo > Settings.
2. Click Game Settings and locate Diablo III.
3. Change the Text & Spoken Language to your preference and click Done.

Give that a shot and let me know how it goes!

Same problem here and still can't change the language in the battle.net app setting

Daan, what happens when you try to change the setting in the Battle.net App? Do you receive an error? What language is currently selected and what are you attempting to change it to?

When you select the new language in the Battle.net App, do you see the brief download happen in the Battle.net Application?

Let's gather some Battle.net Logs for our Quality Assurance team:

    1. Download LogGoblin_Mac.zip
    2. In Finder, navigate to your user account Downloads (~/Downloads) directory and double-click the archive to extract LogGoblin.
    3. Run LogGoblin and give it a few minutes to gather your Battle.net logs.
    4. A zip file named BlizzardLogs-[YYYY-MM-DD].[HHMMSS].zip, which contains all of your log files, was created at the location shown in the Terminal window.
    5. Exit Terminal.

Once the .zip file is created, please email it to toolsupport@blizzard.com with the title [D3][Language Packs][Your Username][Can't change language][19136284067].

It sounds like after the game is told to patch the new language, something is preventing it from patching through. I'd like to make sure the game folder has the necessary write privileges:

    1. Using Finder, navigate to the /Applications directory.
    2. Right-click the Diablo III game folder and select Get Info.
    3. In the info box, go to the Sharing & Permissions section and click on the lock to unlock it. Enter your administrator password when prompted.
    4. Make sure all privileges are set to Read & Write.
    5. Click on the Action icon (cogwheel) and select Apply to all enclosed items. Select Yes to confirm the action.

Note: Step 5 must be done, even if the folder already displays Read & Write privileges. This helps ensure all enclosed files have the same permissions.
