Suffering from screen freezes and EXTREMELY lengthy start up time(1)Category: Technical SupportAugust-24-2015 12:37 PM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
When I click play on the battle net launcher the Diablo III RoS splash comes up and stays there for a very long time before the game starts, the longest time so far being roughly ten minutes. My second problem is that occasionally my screen will freeze (sometimes when going into a new area or town portalling or sometimes just randomly). I have found no fix other than restarting the game. You may realise that these two problems can lead to a massive annoyance. For example I was running a greater nephalem rift with my brother when my game froze, I closed the game through the task manager and then proceeded to try to relaunch it. Because it takes so long for my game to start up, he had no choice but to finish the rift without me otherwise the timer would have run out. He then waited very patiently for me to restart so I could still upgrade my gems with urshi at the end of the rift so when I finally got into the game I went through the rift portal. The game then froze. I told my brother to just upgrade anyway and leave me. So that was an entire rift wasted.

I REALLY need a fix before have a breakdown.

Edit: intel core i3 2100 3.1ghz
geforce gtx 750 ti
8gb of ram

TheSamH99,

Please post your DXDIAG file (Not the MSInfo) so we can get more information about your computer.

Here's a support article that will show you how to get the DXDIAG:

Obtaining System Files

Once you have the DXDIAG file, open it and copy/paste the entire file into your next reply.

TheSamH99,

Let's try uninstalling the current video driver and reinstalling an older video driver to see if that helps. To uninstall the current driver, you are going to want to use a program called Display Driver Uninstaller. This program will ensure that all previous driver files are completely removed.

Here's a link where the Display Driver Uninstaller program can be downloaded.

Once you have that downloaded and installed, try the following steps:

1. Run Display Driver Uninstaller.
2. You will be asked if you want to reboot into safe mode, click on "No".
3. Select "Nvidia" from the "Select Graphic Driver" drop down menu.
4. Click on the "Clean and restart" button.

After the system restarts, the video driver should be completely uninstalled so the graphics should look larger than usual. That's normal and it'll fix itself when the video driver is reinstalled.

Now that the driver is gone, we can go ahead with reinstalling it.

Here's a link for the driver download: Nvidia Driver

When you are going to install the driver I would like for you to select "Custom Install" > Uncheck everything except for the graphics driver > Check the "Perform a clean install" box > Continue with the install.

TheSamH99,

Let's get a little more detailed information about your video card.

Here's how:

1. Download and install the GPU-z program.
2. Launch GPU-Z and let it run for about 5 minutes before starting up the game.
3. Leave GPU-Z running and run the game for about 10 minutes.
4. Close the game.
5. Click on GPU-Z's "Graphics Card" tab.
6. Click on the Camera icon located on the top right corner.
7. Click on the "Upload to a free image hosting" button.
8. Copy and paste the first link into your next forum reply.
