| Hi; this happens every time I try and play and has been happening since 2.2. I log in, the game runs smooth and fast in all areas no matter how many mobs and effects are going on. Then after 5-10mins, no matter what area I'm in or what i'm doing, the game starts to get progressively slower until I'm watching an unplayable slideshow. Alt-tabbing to desktop for a couple of mins then going back to the game seems to buy me a few more mins of smooth normality then it degrades back to the slideshow. The game used to run like lightning on this computer and I've not experienced similar issues on any other games, including those that are far more gpu and cpu intensive. I've tried just about every fix I could see online with no changes; sound off/reduced, graphics on high or low, hardware class changes in prefs, updating drivers, killing background processes, running as admin, installation on main ssd, v-sync on and off, fps limits etc (prob some other stuff I've forgotten). So far nothing seems to alter the problem. Please help, it's making playing the game, let alone actually progressing, virtually impossible. | Martyr, Let's try uninstalling and reinstalling an older video driver to see if that helps. To uninstall the current driver, you are going to want to use a program called Display Driver Uninstaller. This program will ensure that all previous driver files are completely removed. Here's a link where the Display Driver Uninstaller program can be downloaded. Once you have that downloaded and installed, try the following steps: 1. Run Display Driver Uninstaller. 2. You will be asked if you want to reboot into safe mode, click on "No". 3. Select "Nvidia" from the "Select Graphic Driver" drop down menu. 4. Click on the "Clean and restart" button. After the system restarts, the video driver should be completely uninstalled so the graphics should look larger than usual. That's normal and it'll fix itself when the video driver is reinstalled. Now that the driver is gone, we can go ahead with reinstalling it. | Martyr, Let's check the CPU and Graphics card to see if either is overheating. Here's how to do that: 1. Download and install the Speccy system monitoring tool. *** I provided the direct download link, but if you would like more information about the tool itself, please feel free to check out Piriform's website.*** 2. Run Speccy before launching the game. Check the current temperatures for the CPU and the Graphics card, and write the temperatures down. 3. Leave Speccy running , start the game and play for about 15 minutes. Go back and check the temperatures again. | Martyr, Ok that could be the problem I guess. Those temps are scaring me a bit, never seen it run this hot...though haven't checked any temps for at least six months. Crap. Yea, those temps are definitely way to high. Before even launching the game, your CPU was a 91 degrees, and it shouldn't even get that high under a full load. The GPU temp is also getting way to high. If you don't have one already, try using a cooling pad for the laptop. That should at least bring the temps down a bit. I also recommend blowing out the system fans with a can of compressed air. That will hopefully remove any built up dust that could be slowing down the fans. I'm not sure if those suggestions will help. What you'd actually want to do is open up the laptop and give it a good thorough cleaning from the inside. Clean all of the fans and heatsinks, and remove the thermal paste for the CPU and GPU, and apply new paste for both. Once that is done, you shouldn't have any more heating issues.
