getting random TDR timeouts resp. "application has been blocked from accessing graphics hardware" errors, ONLY while playing diablo 3. other, much more demanding games, run flawlessly (so please dont tell my my hardware may be faulty or temps too hight or whatever, since it only happens in diablo 3 - such issues would affect other games as well, not only diablo; ie. it is a diablo 3 issue). sometimes it happens only after some 15mins into the game, then it may happen within less than a minute. ie. the game is unplayable this way (needed some 13 runs in halls of agony III to finally get to the butcher since i lost progress due to these errors that often that each time i needed to start over). started playing diablo 3 on the day of release back in 2012 (ver. 1.x) without a single issue, then stopped in the same year after a few months, and started playing it now for the first time again on the same system 3 weeks ago (ver. 2.4; purchased reaper of souls as well) - only now i am getting these issues. looking at the numerous battle.net (and other) forum posts about the very same issue, this seems to have started to occur en masse with patch 2.2. only difference is that back in 2012 my system was running windows 7 ultimate 64bit, and now it is running windows 10 pro 64 bit after an in-place upgrade on the exact same machine. the issues are everytime same - the game freezes, the sound continues, i can move the in-game cursor, but only way out is to terminate diablo 3. the game doesnt recover after the driver has recovered. my system is fully up-to-date, malware-free, stable and is being cleaned monthly and repasted (cpu+gpu+chipset) every 3-4 months. only issues are with diablo 3. things i have tried additionally to the ones checked from the list above in the support ticket form (everything without any issues, except for the errors with diablo 3 only): - sfc /scannow - chkdsk - swap out ram modules, tried only one module in each slot, tried different ram modules - memtest - scan & repair diablo 3 - clean install ccc 15.7.1 up to crimson 16.2.1 - tried several combinations of windows TDR registry settings - tried all possible cpu affinity combinations - tried compatibility mode win7/8 for diablo iii.exe - tried running diablo iii.exe as administrator - tried vsync on, lowered graphics settings, sound channels etc. ...please just dont paste the standard replies (check heat, check ram, disk etc., run memtest, update drivers, paste dxdiag reports and so on) - i have done everything. and i wont paste the useless msinfo & dxdiag reports here, as theyre n/a since the same issues occur on numerous other systems as well, so its not hw-related - just search for TDR within the battle.net forums, theres no end to threads on this, and ive read through many of them. if the support page worked, id surely attach dxdiag & msinfo reports there, but it doesnt. btw. been trying to send a support ticket (and of course also tried chat/phone call) since already 3 weeks, no way (see https://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/17611002754 ). maybe if youre not able to fix your game, at least fix your support page? thanks |

There isn't a general fix for everyone but what seems to help the most is to slightly under clock the GPU's core clock frequency by 5-15% using a third party utility like EVGA's PrecisionX or MSI's Afterburner programs. In terms of submitting a ticket can you make sure the files you are attaching total less than 2.5mbs, there seems to have been an issue of late with large file attachments preventing ticket submission. _____________________________________________________ Na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na Survey! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Tiogaradh |
