Console to PC(1)Category: ConsoleApril-2-2015 9:22 AM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
So one of my PC friends finally convinced me to build a PC with him (I just buy the parts and he'll do the building haha).
One of the primary games we'll be playing is D3. I tried for months to convince him to get a PS4 to play D3 with me but he prefers PC gaming to console controllers and was planning on building a new rig -so he's not interested in getting a PS4 anytime soon.

In any case, do you guys have any tips for a console player who used to only the console version of the game? I've been reading some older threads but mostly it was either bashing consoles/controllers or arguing why D3 is better using a console/controller combo. The only primary concern I have is how I'm going to use a mouse and keyboard as I've not PC gamed since FPS games like Wolfenstien 3D and Counter Strike and the combo just doesn't seem as viable for an ARPG like D3 so I can't seem to wrap my head around it at the moment.

I know that the two versions are not exactly apples to apples in comparison but I'm open to any thoughts you guys may have in easing into the PC version.
Thanks!

There's already been a lot of great tips in this thread, but I'd like to add a bit of advice as well. If you're used to playing Diablo III on console, then the simple act of standing still to attack, or making sure you move when you want to, can be a challenge when converting to PC. Thankfully, there is a simple way to achieve the precision controls you're looking for.

My advice is get familiar with keybinding Force Move (no assigned key by default) to something you're comfortable with, and holding Shift (by default) to Force Stand Still. This way accidentally clicking the ground when fighting wont move you instead of attacking, and accidentally clicking a monster when you're trying to move won't result in you stopping to attack it.
