New Legendary Items Are Seasonal in Patch 2.1.2

Only Season 2 heroes get the new Legendary gems and gear

Diablo III Season 2
The big Diablo III Patch 2.1.2 is nearly ready for testing on the PTR, and more details are coming out all the time about it. The two new Legendary Gems coming in the patch were revealed to be Seasonal items, along with the other new Legendary items. As such, during Season 2 they will only drop for Seasonal characters. The latest Blizzard Blues posts detail that and other news, including a hotfix for the Boon of the Hoarder Legendary gem.

Legendary Gems for Seasonal Heroes
Season 2 will be part of patch 2.1.2, and it includes some entirely new Legendary and Set items, along with two new Legendary gems. As clarified by Tyvalir, all of those new items will be Season-only at the start - they will only drop for Seasonal characters during Season 2. After Season 2 is over, they will roll over and be available to all characters.
Some of the new content coming in patch 2.1.2 - including new Treasure Goblins and Ancient Items - will be available to all heroes, regardless of whether they're Seasonal.

In addition, when Season 2 begins, Seasonal heroes will have a first crack at brand new Seasonal Legendary items (as well as a few existing Legendary items which have been updated with shiny new powers). The two new Legendary Gems that were announced at BlizzCon will also be Season-only, at least to start.

Just as a reminder: At the end of Season 2, all Seasonal Legendary items (including the new Legendary gems) will be rolled over into the non-Seasonal loot pool, at which point non-Seasonal heroes will also have access to them. The only items which are truly exclusive to Seasons are the Seasonal transmog appearances, new Conquests, and new banner rewards.

Boon of the Hoarder Hotfix
The Boon of the Hoarder, from the Realm of Greed, is a fun Legendary Gem that provides explosions of gold. The gold piles provided by the gem were reduced in patch 2.1.1 from 10 to 5. It has been reduced again to only 2 gold piles, although the amount of gold provided was boosted accordingly. This should reduce the graphical spam on screen when the gem goes off.
Live hotfixes have been updated. There are no new hotfixes at this time.

Items
  • Boon of the Hoarder
    • Number of gold piles produced has been reduced from 5 to 2
      • The amount of gold earned per pile has been increased so that the total amount of gold dropped is unchanged

Pylons in Greater Rifts
One of the many tweaks coming in patch 2.1.2 are how pylons are handled in Greater Rifts. The non-Conduit pylons will be made more useful and buffed all around, to make them more useful and closer to the huge power boost of the Conduit Pylon.
Pylons are meant to give you a surge of power and can (in most circumstances) add an additional layer of excitement to Greater Rifts. We love the variety they provide, but agree that their current implementation missed the mark and can have a negative impact on your Greater Rift experience, especially at the top end.

Rather than remove them outright (which would remove some of the fun in Greater Rifts), we'll instead be making several changes to bring the different types of pylons more into alignment. The changes we currently have planned include buffing Shield, Power, Speed, and Channeling pylons so that each type feels equally meaningful (or at least comparable) to Conduit pylons as well as balancing out their distribution so that you’re finding pylons more consistently.

Of course, these changes will be available for testing on the 2.1.2 PTR, so we'll be listening closely to your feedback on how the new/improved pylons feel in practice. Hands on experience will provide a lot of context to the posts we’re seeing right now, so please take some time if you can and let know how these changes work out!

Missing Warlords of Draenor Bonus
The World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor Collector's Edition or Digital Deluxe edition provides a Warsong Pennant cosmetic bonus. It is not showing up for some Diablo III accounts that purchased the Collector's Edition, and that is being investigated by the QA department.
Hi Guys,

Did you happen to check the in-game mail icon in the bottom-left corner of your screen? We don't automatically add items like the Warsong Pennant, Angelic Wings, etc. to characters inventories anymore. Instead we mail them.

Let me know if you've looked in your mailbox and still don't have anything. Thanks!
Thanks for the reports everyone, I've directed this report the appropriate parties and we are looking into it.
