Diablo III Patch 2.0.2 Patch Notes and Hotfixes

The game receives numerous fixes, via a client patch and hotfixes (Updated)

Diablo III Patch 2.0.2
Just one week after Diablo III patch 2.0.1 brought massive changes to the game, another patch has arrived for Diablo III Patch 2.0. Diablo III PC patch 2.0.2 is primarily a bug fix patch, taking care of client crashes and other bugs that couldn't be handled with a hotfix. Unfortunately, this patch has it's own bug, with audio spam each time a character receives experience. Here are the patch notes and details about how to handle that new bug, until it is fixed.

Diablo III patch 2.0.2 is now live in the Americas. Check out the full patch notes below to learn all about the latest changes.

Important: Please note that you will not be prompted to download patch 2.0.2 until the patch is live in your home region. If you are logging in from a European or Asian client, you will need to wait for this patch to release in that region before it can be installed. Additionally, if your home region is in the Americas, you will be unable to log into Europe or Asia using Global Play after patch 2.0.2 is live until those regions have also patched.

There were some other small changes that aren't in the patch notes. These include nerfs to the experience from quests that were being used to quickly gain experience, without playing through the game. Quest experience from killing Mira Eamon (the Blacksmith's wife), and from freeing refugees in the Scouring of Caldeum, has been dramatically reduced. We will have more details about those in the hotfix updates, when they are released.

Here are the details on how to take care of the new audio spam in patch 2.0.2. Every time a character receives experience, the character and any follower will often speak messages that should only appear when a character levels up. To temporarily stop the spam from at least the audio section, you can turn the Voice volume down entirely. While the text will still be in the chat log, at least the audio will not be spammed with it.
With today's 2.0.2 patch, players may be experiencing an unexpected amount of chat from their characters and followers. Upon gaining experience, your hero and follower may be prompted to inform you of their progress.

We are aware of this issue and currently working to address it as quickly as possible. However, this will require a patch to resolve.

In the meantime, you can impose your own temporary gag order by disabling the following options:

  • Sound > Voice Volume > Set to 0

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue!
We'll update this news through the day with more details about the patch, as they're available.

Update: Here are the Hotfix notes for patch 2.0.2. Some hotfixes already went live with the patch this morning, while others are on their way:
Below you will find a list of hotfixes recently applied or coming soon that address various bugs or mechanic tweaks.

These hotfixes should not require you to download a new patch. Some of the hotfixes below will go live the moment they are implemented while others may require restarting the game to go into effect. Please keep in mind that some issues cannot be addressed without a client-side patch. Also note that changes to certain abilities will not be reflected in its tooltip until a patch is issued.

Previous hotfixes can be located here: [2.0.1]

Update #2: While the servers are back down for extended maintenance, another tidbit of info from Lylirra. The Reset Quests option is one of the best ways to farm legendary items right now, because of the guaranteed Legendary drop from the Skeleton King. That guaranteed drop was supposed to be changed to Diablo instead, but that update didn't make this patch:

Hey Lylirra thanks for all the hard work :) Just curious if the 100% Legendary has been moved to diablo with this patch or if it's still on skeleton king

That bug fix/change didn't make this patch unfortunately. It's currently scheduled for the next. :)

Update #3: The Diablo III servers in Americas are now fully up! If you had the Battle.net Desktop App already open, you may need to close it entirely and re-open it, to get into the game. It may also need to do the Reconfiguring Files process that was required by patch 2.0.1. But after all that, the game is there waiting to be played. Have fun!
Latest update:

Service should now be live and you should be able to log into the game. Thanks again for hanging in there for us!

Update #4: Be sure to check out the updated Hotfix notes, above. They have received more changes since this morning. That wraps up this set of updates for Diablo III PC Patch 2.0.
