In case of a machinima(1)Category: GeneralFebruary-12-2014 5:43 AM PST (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Some time ago i found a program that allows me to extract models from Diablo III files and import them in 3DS Max/Maya. I would try to make a machinima (as a self learned 3ds max/Maya user is pretty hard :D) based on the main theme of Diablo III.

There are some question that i would ask before beginning the whole process of import/export, editing, MoCap, rigging, rendering, publishing:

1_May i use the music from Diablo III on my (titanic) work?

2_May i import/export and do some editing on blizz models and textures (very little changes to the models to have less polygons to work on)?

The whole thing is only cause i love D3 and could be really fun for me to work on blizz models but i'd like to avoid to make a machinima if i go against any copyright infringment.

I read the policy statement but haven't found any answwer to my questions.

All is intended that i don't do this for profit but for my own passion for games (D3 in this case) and unite it with my hobby.

The theme of this machinima, i thought, is about a skeleton orchestra, directed by the necromancer u find in A2 event, playing the main theme of D3.

If any Blue's could answer me i'll appreciate.

P.S. Sorry for my English :D

Hi EktorBaboden,

Blizzard Entertainment strongly supports the efforts its community members who produce Machinima, so the fundamental guidelines we have in regards to Machinima creation is that you can make use of Blizzard content as long as it is limited to non-commercial purposes.

If you have questions that are not answered in the Blizzard Video Policy, then you are welcome to send them to community-videos@blizzard.com
