Windows 8 with HD 4000 not working(1)Category: Technical SupportAugust-8-2013 10:11 AM PDT (9 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
So I have a new system (Dell Optiplex 9010, INtel 3.1 GHz, 8GB RAM) with Windows 8 and a HD 4000 video card. It should work, but after hitting play on the launcher I get an error window which says that Windows 6.2 and the HD 4000 are not supported. As suggested here, I hit escape to close the window and then get the small Diablo logo in the center of the screen for a second and then it goes away and nothing opens further. If I check on the task manager it says Diablo III is running but it never displays.

Suggestions?

Keidas,

Are you trying to install the game for the first time or was it already installed and you've upgraded in-place to Windows 8?

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Keidas,

Your drivers appear to be quite old for your Intel HD 4000. You might see if Dell has anything newer for your model.

You might also be able to use Intel's reference drivers located here:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3712&DwnldID=21310&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Desktop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=3rd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4000&lang=eng

If updating the drivers isn't helping, could you post a link to a screenshot of the warning message?

Also, it might help to update your version of Adobe's Flash Player.
