| Alright, so when ever i am in full screen or (windowed) full screen ill have some issues, but not in windowed, but in full screen if i open my map up ill see the map for a split half of a second then my screen turns black, but if i escape or click m to exit map my screen will go back to the game like nothing ever happened, same thing when i try to switch the currency used to usd/gold in the auction house, the screen will go black but if i hit enter from the option saying yes from switching ill go right on and continue into the auction house, same with bidding or buying out items if i click those options the screen will black out, ill have to exit the game or try to back out of it somehow, also when calibrate gamma, or click on credits at the login screen the screen will turn black really fast, and if i click escape button to exit credits everything will be normal, but i can do everything in windowed mode just fine with no issues at all, but i don't like playing in windowed mode, i play the game in max graphic settings, i've tried messing with all the settings in game, different resolutions, turning off v sync and every other option in diablo 3 that i could possibly try. I have deleted Diablo 3 game preferences file i've uninstalled reinstalled updated diablo 3 multiple times, i have rebooted my computer i have switched my screen from using hdmi to dvi, but nothing. I can play Skyrim completely max graphics in 1920x1080 resolution with no problems and great fps Here is my computer specs: M5a97 evo motherboard. 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. 16G of Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4x4g ram. 700W RAIDMAX Blackstone power supply unit. 1TB western digital hard drive. 3.60 GHz Amd FX-4100 quad-core processor. GYGABYTE Amd Radeon HD 7970 3gb GDDR5. 22" LED Asus Monitor 16:9. I have updated my graphics driver and amd catalyst vision control center to the most current updates, i have uninstalled and completely removed them and direct x, and reinstalled and updated the drivers, and my catalyst programs, i have taken my vgpu out of my computer and reinserted to make sure its fit correctly and all power cords are plugged in, all 3 fans are running. My Driver version is: - 12.104-130328a-157485C-ATI My Catalyst version is: - 13.4 My graphics card and cpu temperatures playing diablo 3 are: CPU- Idle: 2c to 6c Playing Diablo 3: 10c to 26c Have a aftermarket I have a corsair cpu water cooler. GPU- Idle: 40c to 41c Playing Diablo 3: 45c to 56c But yeah i have dusted, reinserted hardware and rearranged wires, done performance and diagnostics test, i have looked up in my computer system for my display drivers and it reports no issues. So i'm confused what could be the problem, i can play Skyrim in max graphics no problem, but other then that i've tried to run windows in selective services mode, I have also used ease of access tool in my control panel to turn off all high contrast settings, and have also tried running the game in administrator mode. In my AMD engine vision control center, my graphics over drive has been turned on and the gpu clock settings were lowered to 800 MHz and the memory clock settings to 1125 MHZ and lower then those, now i have overdrive turned off, and i have the gaming settings for the control center off put to use application settings and only multisampling and have tried all other kind of options. I have been on the live tech support, and phone support with blizzard and reverted me to forums, so here i am now, i have tried basically anything i can think of and tried what other people suggested so far, so if anyone else has any other suggestions please that would help out alot. | ||

| ChowDown, This is a strange symptom I've never come across before. Based on everything you've done already, my first thought is what happens if you use a different video card? Do you have one available with which to test? It doesn't have to be the same make/model in fact, it would be best not to use the same type card right now. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, You've changed so many things is so many places. Do you think you can get it all back to default settings first? Then I'd like to see your dxdiag info. You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. And lastly, after verifying the problem still exists, assuming you can get in the game (maintenance is almost done), I'd like to see your D3Debug.txt file captured immediately after exiting a game session. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, All right, nothing looks out of place anywhere in there. We'll need to wait now until you're able to get back in the game and test it again. When you do, concentrate on just one action that causes the black screen, like opening the map. If it's still doing it, exit the game and post the D3Debug.txt file from your main Diablo III game folder. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, Thanks, nothing unexpected is happening in there anywhere. This doesn't sound like a TDR issue where the video drivers timeout and recover shortly thereafter but could you check in the Event Viewer under the System log and see if there might be any error entries corresponding to when you were seeing the screen go black? The Event Viewer is accessed under the Administrative Tools which is accessed in the Control Panel. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, Ok, that's what I pretty much figured anyway. I'd like you to next try booting up in selective startup mode and then test the game again doing the sames you did earlier to test it and let me know if anything changes. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, If it crashed again, just the D3Debug file will do. I don't expect to find anything but it's worth a look. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, There's really not much else I can suggest for this other than trying another HD 7970 card. From what you've described and based on what's been eliminated, it seems to be pointing to the actual card as being the most likely cause at this point. Maybe another user reading this who happens to use the same card can check to see if the same problem exists for them or not? I've inquired internally to see if our QA Team has that card available to test with too, but haven't heard back yet. One other thought is if you have another computer you could install your 7970 into to see if it happens there too or not? _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| ChowDown, Our QA Department was able to round up an HD 7970 with which to test. I asked them to read your forum description of the problem so they'd know what to check. Here's what they were able to tell me: "Investigated the forum report with a Radeon HD 7970. Opened the map in the following locations and did not experience a black screen at any time: - New Tristram - Cathedral Garden - Leoric's Passage - Cathedral Level 3 Additionally tested switching between Gold and Real Money in the RMTAH and did not encounter the reported issue. Alll above listed tests were performed in: - Fullscreen - Windowed Fullscreen - Windowed Tested on Build 1.0.8.16603" This would seem to confirm that there isn't an inherent issue with this particular card and the game. _________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time Please provide feedback! - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||
