| I don't know if this is the right section and I apologize in advance if I posted in the wrong place. So this is basically the weirdest hack that has happened to me. I haven't played Diablo III for about a year now (I mainly play Starcraft II but have been on and off recently) and I randomly got an email saying that my Diablo III account was closed. First I assumed it was one of those phishing emails but after seeing that the address was from battle.net, I opened the email. It explained that my account was closed for using hacks. So I went on battle.net myself (I did not click any links in the email) and tried to login and ... apparently there was an authenticator attached to my account that I never knew about... So I opened a ticket to get the authenticator removed and blizzard was really helpful in the process of recovering my account. Now here's the weird part. Blizzard said in their ticket that in order to attach an authenticator to your account, you would need to confirm the request by clicking a link in your email. However, my email doesn't seem hacked (I've been using my email address constantly and there was no sign of any kind of hacks). And this is even stranger because I haven't actually played the game for a long long time and so it's a bit strange. The second weird part is that I have been playing Starcraft like 2-3 weeks ago and before I did the authenticator removal, I noticed that when I tried to login to starcraft, it required the authenticator code (it didn't happen 2-3 weeks ago). So I'm puzzled as to why/how someone hacked an account that they probably don't even know about. (I mean if it was someone from the Starcraft side, why would they go and get my Diablo III account that has nothing on it?) Did anyone else get hacked like this or am I the only one? | ||

| Hi Thunder, it definitely looks like there could very well have been a compromise to the account. I would advise calling us up so that we can help you get this resolved in the most expedient manner - or you can attach a copy of your ID to a support ticket to indicate that you believe that the security has been compromised - that way, we can expedite the issue and help get everything sorted as quickly as possible. You are right in that in order to put an authenticator on the account, the link sent in the email must first be clicked. If the authenticator was put on by someone else, then you may need to update the password for your various personal accounts after having run a thorough virus/malware scan as MissCheetah suggested. You'll find our support numbers linked in the upper right hand corner of this page. Please get in contact with us as soon as is convenient for you, and we'll help you resolve this. Thanks for bringing this to our attention! [Post edited one time, last edit by Araxom at July-17-2013 3:40 PM PDT (9 years ago)] | ||
