| I have been banned 3 times (the next will be my last) for "harassing" other posters. I think the main problem is when you use any type of language that is commonly construed as profanity, for example "eff," or swear words or other profanity that have asterisks in the body of the word (which seems strange because if you use a bad word, the forum will mask it for you, and they let that go). The other thing is when you make a personal attack on any one person (my problem). For example, if I disagree with something someone said and I say: "You are an idiot." Not good. It might be better to say: "Your opinion is idiotic." Not really much better. The best thing might be to say: "I strongly disagree with that opinion." I think the best advice I can give is to limit your reply to the issue at hand, and do not respond directly to the perceived characteristics of the poster, or the presentation of the post itself. Better yet, if the guy is a jerk or a troll, don't respond at all. Best: If you haven't got something nice to say, don't say anything at all. StoneOld | ||

| Just wanted to pop in here and say thanks to Stone for the solid post. I know that common sense may seem uncommon sometimes, but it's good to know that the message we send out is being received. We want to encourage constructive conversation, and if that means sometimes taking out the harsh stuff - then we'll do what we have to do. About filtered language: the fact of the matter is that we're not going to see whether the filter was intentional, or if it was a product of what our system did to mask a word - so we're looking at context. This is why we ask you not to mask any language. At any rate, thanks for the post, the Moderators appreciate it :) On a side note: I did take out the block of repeat text - I know it was tongue-in-cheek, but I don't want the account being actioned in case someone else reports that as spam. | The same concept applies in game, and in the forums. Moderators are not necessarily the CM's - although the CM's can and do moderate. Those of us who attend to the forum reports, will work from those - and then review the reported posts as they are brought to our attention. You don't have to walk on eggshells, but just be mindful of your fellow posters here and treat them as you'd like to be treated. That's all there really is to it. | ||

i once got banned for saying gfy or good for you.... no wait, it's because I was talking about how pvp still isn't out yet... 3 day forum ban for that. As ever, if you feel that the a suspension was wrongly applied, you can write back to us at forum@blizzard.com and let us know what's going on. Although we do our best not to make mistakes, we realize they happen from time to time. Sometimes in the shuffle of going through the pages of reports, it's entirely possible that an action is taken against a forum account that shouldn't be. If that ever happens, just let us know and we'll be sure to review the issue again. [Post edited one time, last edit by Araxom at June-18-2013 8:42 PM PDT (10 years ago)] | ||
