Loving Diablo 3 Again by Migrating to Hardcore(1)Category: GeneralMay-29-2013 2:47 AM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
I think I have pretty much achieved everything that I want to achieve in softcore mode, and so by climbing my own personal summit there (IM's and HFR, maximising my items according to playing style and real money budget, humanitarian work by levelling up strangers etc) , the search for fullfillment and satisfaction in softcore is waning.

After a year of the hardcore feature being untouched, I have finally dived into it and even at low levels, I am getting immense satisfaction because:

* Gold now has relevance here in this world, it is earned and never bought
* AH economy seems more reasonable as the balance of runaway prices is kept in check by the precious earned gold
* A sense of character self-finding, a character doesnt have to have the best gear to be the best, rather, it is the best character for the situation they find themselves in.

I am sure it has been said before that RMAH has tainted the regular game, and this is mainly the reason why i am escaping SC, but that being said, Death really is final in HC which in a way, is a good thing.

I think HC is the answer to diablo 3.

P.S. I have an idea for PvP also, that will put everyone on a level playing field... and that is, PvP is only for HC gear (or even HC chars - but dont die permanently in PvP)

Hardcore, give it a go!

I'm glad to hear that moving over to Hardcore has been a success for you. It has a tendency to provide players with a new approach and pace to the game that is often welcomed. Personally, I really enjoy the feeling that each battle is significant, because you never know when it's your last.
