| My Message to Blizzard: Concerned of state of Diablo III & Community Note: It is important to understand I use my voice to raise my concerns about Blizzard Entertainment to improve the game and the community in the long run. :-) I love Diablo universe and been playing the games since 1996. All expressions voiced is my owns thoughts. If you like them or dislike please give you own opinion so we can create a better community together. Please note this post is split up in 2 sections (part I & part II), one is some issues/critics to Blizzard and secondary is the cool stuff, improvements to the game. Part I: First of all I have an important message to send out to the D3 Community & Blizzard that I am quite disapointed that my fansite and many loyal fansites (EU) is not in the RoS beta, and my feeling to many Diablo III fansites and loyal members of the community that has been left out cold of the RoS Friend & Family Beta. Blizzard Entertainment stated in a Friends & Family Beta Press Release that they are sending out 3000 Beta keys to Friends & Family beta, I can with 100% and i mean 100% say that is not true and its is a false statement. Why I can say this because I have it on an email and official phone call as prove. Also if you wonder why you have played D3 for 3000-5000 hours and you was not selected, now you have the answer here. What Blizzard did they send out keys to Blizzard employees, some top streamers and a very few US fansites, again EU was left in the cold. I have personally been so disappointed with this move that I send an official letter complain to the Blizzard Management. I really wish & hope that Blizzard would think twice here, and be nice to give some keys to EU community in general. My concern of the state of Diablo III. While Blizzard has been improved a lot and listen to the community lately (props for that) there is still some key issues that has not been addressed for a long time, some of the key issues is following as I see them: - Communication issues/EU Community - Development Team - Items/Builds Customization - PvP/PvpepvP - Endgame - Trade Communication issues/EU Community It is been an known issue with EU Community that we are been threaten like second hands for a long time, and almost all (blues,fansites, rewards, possibilities) stuff is always priotirized by US Blizzard department, therefore I raise my voice and wish to have an end with such a rotten culture, and I propose to Blizzard for a wish you can make a culture that is transparent and where EU/US community is threatened and rewarded equally & democratically. Please please fix this Blizzard. Development Team Replacing Jay with Josh as game director did/does not solve the issue, the issue is much deeper, and it something I will call "self-found" syndrome, basically what it means that same people has been sitting on the same chair for 5 years they loose track and only see what they want to see. It is known that big companies such as google, facebook and other swap or total reboot teams/employees every 2-3 years for health of the product (D3), innovation and the community. This is not the case, and the team may be tired and lacks of innovation. (sorry, no offense) Another thing I also noticed with the D3 team is they want to analyze and test/simplify everything, while it is good to analyze data and numbers, my philosophy is you can't analyze everything, especially not in a game, and keep simplifying is not a solution in it self. Just remember how they created games in old days, and were successful, we didn't have all the data to analyze, it was good craftsmanship, and that what games is about. I think it is more important to listen, listen and listen to the feedback and community. I will be willing to help you guys out :-) Solution: Similar to Blizzard rebooted the Titan project, as this might sound harsh, but I really think it is healthy move is somehow reboot/restructure the whole D3 project/team, I cannot say how in details it should work, but it can be figured out as Blizzard is a company with 3000+ employees, so Blizzard have the tools/resources to reboot/restructure teams. This would be healthy for the Diablo 3 project with some healthy new eyes, with add much on the innovation part of the project. Again please listen to the community and give them some of the options they asked for. Now the positive and cool stuff :-) Part II: Itemization/Runes/Customization Really i do not think the itemization is the key issue of D3, items is just numbers, no matter how big or small people will find out mechanics on which items works best legendary og rares. Instead I think this could be solved with Runes in sockets, that we know from D2 to customize items. and what up really with runes in D3? Here is my idea: Naphelem Alters New items to collect - runes as we know them from D2 with some tweaks, which you can socket your items and completely change your builds and game experience. They can come with any skill we known from Diablo 3 that can be used by all classes. 1. Example a barbarian can find a frost nova rune and put it into his sword, and he will get a % chance on attack to cast frostnova. 2. Example a wizard have a rune of warcry they put into chest armor as socket, a % chance on hit they cast warcry. 3. Example a witchdoctor have a rune of healing on socketed legs, and on hit they have a % chance to cast heal. Types of runes: - On hit (armors) - On attack (weapons) As you can see there will be endless possibilities of dynamic builds and gameplay, but with a price, if you choose to have altered runes in an item, it will cost resources each time its triggered, this way you will carefully think about which to use and give a lot of flexibility. What about balance will that be an issue? Well not really as i see it, the balance will be individual now depending on your choice of runes and skills, and every class & players can achieve same builds so in that way it is not unbalanced, instead it give much space for experiment builds and long replayerbility of the game. Should there be levels in runes? So what about warcry I, warcry II, warcry III, there is absolutely no need to makes more complex than needed. (K.I.S.S). What about passives skills? No, they are not part of this system. PvP PvP doesn't have to be balanced, it can be tweaked with some smart techniques already in the game instead of reinventing the weel. The pvpepvp has been mentioned, and I think its cool and here is my idea: World PvP vs Environment, so basically enable pvp anywhere similar as in D2 (both accept) in the game it has not to be balanced, however with a few tweaks, we can eliminated insta kills with some damage/stats reductions. Secondary why not reuse already in-game content and use them and world pvp areas, similar as Nephalem rifts random areas as world PvP and environment, this way PvP could be fun, rewarding and random. Nephalem Bloods How it work: all players agree to go to an random created area i call them Nephalem bloods, a random area with monsters, 2vs2 or 1vs1 start in each side of map and has to go through all the mobs, get loot there, and suddenly woops you meet your enemy you kill him and he respawn a random place far away from you on map, this can be used also on a scoreboard to who get to 10 points/kills first and integrated in a ladder system for competition. Endgame in RoS This is probably the most difficult question, even Blizzard havent been able to crack the code, however to create endgame there I think there has to be following: - Competition/Replayability Competition comes with a ladder system/leaderbords that can be reset, there could also be daily, weekly, monthly, top lists etc or incorporate them into nephalem bloods, nephalem rifts, bounties, daily pve/pvp achievements. - Rewards/Tangible effect Reward top users daily, weekly, monthly on there accomplishment, with random legendary item, it could be anything cool, a bag of random legendary loot? cosmetic stuff. This will create lots of competition to the game and a viable pvp system, which will create tangability and replayability. Again small smart tweaks/techniques can do big different without need of creating new grahphics, much programming, with using some clever mechanics by reusing already build in systems. Trade As many other concerned, and top streamers eliminating trade totally is no go, it will kill diablo it is about trade, but again if the issue is the auction house, black trade sites and botters. This can be fixed with some smart game mechanics such as following: - Trade only with friends on friendlist that been more than 1 month on friendlist and u have played with this player minimum 10 hours last month. - The players who was in game - Near me players social feature This way you eliminate black sites trading, but the trading can still occur in a limited but interesting form with your friends :) Final touches In general I am here to share my though on how I think I can improve the D3 community and I have a wish about Blizzard will read this post and small hope it will be reach to the development team so they would consider some of the thoughts I have on my mind. Maybe there is a point here? It is also mentioned by other community members, with small tweaks we can make a game that can last for many years, without re-inventing the whole game with some clever smart tweaks and techniques. I will be thankful anyhow for the readers & Blizzard. You are of cause welcome to give positive and negative feedback is appreciated.
