| The Pro's and Cons of a Great Patch: 1.0.8(1) | Category: GeneralMay-13-2013 1:09 PM PDT (10 years ago) ![]() | |
| I've greatly enjoyed many of the improvements made in 1.0.8 and look forward to 1.0.9 (Itemization patch?!?!) So, I've thought I'd make an easy to read list of things that were done right and things that could use some ironing out. Pro's: 1) Monster Density, the game feels more like a Diablo game. 2) Group finder, very useful, better than spamming chat. 3) Class improvements, DH's finally get some love. Archon is now viable in group?! 4) Group play, love the buffs and health adjustments that have made group play fruitful w/o multi-boxing. 4b) Also, the notices about when someone is fighting an elite or goblin are AWESOME! These significantly improve the quality of group play. 5) Book of Cain, like OMG, soooo goood! (I still prefer the actual Cain.) 6) Crafting: Crafting more than one thing at a time keeps one from losing one's mind crafting. 7) Salvaging: You can disable the confirmation dialog when salvaging a unique?! (long overdue!) 8) Gear/AH: The ability to actual see the improvement items give you on the AH is awesome! 9) Buffs/Debuffs: Being able to see more of what's going on sure is helpful! Could Use a Little Ironing Out: 1) Group finder: Yeah, so where are the UBERS? And why am I getting put into/having people put into KW runs when stacks have already been stacked? 1b) Perhaps custom game lobbies/match making/named games, with the elapsed time of the game would work? You don't want to get put into a game that's already been made public for over 10 minutes, KW is definitely dead/everyone has 5 stacks when you join) That way you know exactly what you are getting into, and MUCH more social/less random to boot. A suggestion. 2) Crafting: Anyone else having trouble entering the number of crafts they want and having that annoying initial "1" staying there and not being able to be deleted? I keep having it go to the max number I can make because of that "1" staying there, let us delete it and enter the number we want w/o skitzing out. 2b) Crafting times are redonkulous. Seriously, someone time the amount of time it takes to make a single radiant star gem... this isn't an MMO, I want to kill things, not spend hours crafting gems... 2c) Also, it is very tedious to craft gems tier by tier until you finally get to select Radiant Star or even Marquise quality. 2d) When crafting weapons and such, if I fill my bag up, the weapons drop onto the ground. This is a very dubious situation as I might be grabbing a coffee/using the bathroom/ otherwise making the best use of this wasted time. The problem arises when a d/c happens. for w/e reason. Couldn't the overflow drop into my bank before it drops onto the ground? I'd prefer not to make only 30 items at a time. 3) Loot: The decrease in loot quality for some monsters made sense, but the loot quality from some of the nastier monsters could be more improved to reflect their actual level of challenge. If you use logic to do one thing, at least apply that logic to everything. 4) Gear/AH: The ability to see the improvement gear adds within the Ah doesn't account for the gems you already have in that slot item. It would be a great improvement if it "assumed" you would use the same gems you currently have in your current gear in the new gear as well. Purchasing weapons would receive a huge improvement from this, as it stands, looking at them on the AH has NOT improved at all from prepatch because of this. Socketed gear, even with a different number of sockets, should assume w/e gems are in the current gear would also be used in the gear being looked at. Filtering for the best socketed gems first. (I.E. have equipped a 3 socket chest aith 2 radiant stars and one flawless square and looking at a 2 socketed chest, it would assume you would use the 2 radiant stars.) 4b) The AH doesn't apply weapon master bonus for barbs when comparing so if you compare a mighty weapon to a mace/axe its not adding the 10 cc. It does not do this for the DH's archery passive either. 4c) It doesn't take set bonuses into account. Will buying an item add/take from my set? Then why doesn't it account for that? 4d) So, the new gear comparison tool on the AH is awesome, but why can't we search and sort the items we're looking for by those oh so important parameters. More than AS or CD or CC or anything else, I'm looking for an upgrade, and that usually means I'm looking at those 3 stats: Total Damage Reduction/Paper DPS/Health Pool. If I can filter & sort by those parameters, I can then zone in on which stats are best within those limits, which is what I really want to do anyway. 5) Monster Density: We could use an increase in elite pack density 1 or 2 more per area, depending on the size of the area would be nice. We hunt, not merely for the thrill of the hunt, but for the trophies as well. 5b) Why isn't there a monster density option on difficulties lower than inferno? Leveling alts is a very tedious and boring task for established D3 gamers. You could have a check box option that enables monster density in all difficulties. (Which would also make Inferno easier on people trying it for the first time and want to raise their MP w/o increasing the monster density.) 6) Buffs/Debuffs: Being able to see more of (particularly buffs) what's going on sure would be helpful! 7) Class "Improvements": There is a lively (to say the least) Discusion about the DH improvements on the DH forums. I don't think everyone's happy... Having tested the DH out post patch myself, I have to say their survivability leaves MUCH to be desired, even under the best of circumstances, relative to the other classes. It might be time to implement the ol' 30% DR buff that fixed the Monk and Barb.... http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/8569598165 [Post edited ten times, last edit by Secoya#1108 at May-15-2013 8:40 AM PDT (10 years ago)] | ||

| Great compilation! (Personally, I really like the format and how you broke everything down.) We've been in MEGA FEEDBACK SHARING mode with the developers regarding patch 1.0.8 features, so I'll make sure this gets sent over along with all the other discussions and talking points I've seen posted here, on our fan sites (e.g. /r/Diablo, Diablo Fans, Diablo IncGamers), and across social media too. Feedback like this helps us gauge how meaningful specific changes are, whether they were successful, and if additional tuning is needed. | ||
