| Hey all, Desperate for a solution at this stage.. heres the history I started crashing around july 2012, usually in combat with lots of enemies [ but not always] happens more frequently on my wizards than my dh's. So i took a break till about a month ago, and the crashing still persists. My computer parts were old and i thought it must be the problem, note the problems include both crashing and game lock up for 4-10seconds then the game would resume. [Not windows crashing] I have since upgraded alot of my parts I will list primarily new parts as the exact same problem is still there, i will also list them in the order upgraded, note at each upgrade stage i tested and still had the same problem before trying a new part -[edit] a re-install of windows has occured inbetween me taking a break and resuming this game -500 Watt power supply -Replaced the motherboard, ram and processor at same time now using Intel core i5-3570k @ CPU @ 3.4Ghz Memory 8192MB Ram Gigabyte ultra durable motherboard [not sure if motherboards have specs] -Trying my friends GTX 460 [instead of my gtx 250] -[edit] A complete re-download of diablo 3 [last night, problem persists] -The only thing i havent replaced is the HDD and monitor[lol], however ive attempted this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/5149178443 Running mpq's off a pendrive, definatly reduced start up lag and overall smoother gameplay, yet crashing and 4-10second screen freezing continues So yea basically a completely new computer, apart from the hard drive could this be the problem? i believe i am curse to always have this problem with diablo 3 Ive spent alot of money trying to remove this issue as i only enjoy HC mode in this game, and crashing isnt worth the risk. Ive tried many things, run as admin, lowered graphics, lowered fps, trilnear filtering off, [Have no issues in other games] Really need help here guys, i cant seem to find similar issues caused by hard drives, but if i have a new everything else... =( I think its also worth mentioning my friend has been running the game fine on the same motherboard/ram/cpu as me and on his gtx 460 when he was using it | ||

| Reu, Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. ________________________________________________ I'm available Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time "A working class hero is something to be...." | Reu, Your use of a 75Hz refresh rate seems odd when the monitors native rate is only ~60Hz. Native Mode: 1440 x 900(p) (59.887Hz). That could be causing some strange issues since vertical sync is enabled. The game's going to try to keep it at 75 fps and if it can't for any reason, it will drop to roughly half that and probably keep cycling up and down as allowed. Try setting it to 60 in game. I'd also disable the fps limiters you have enabled altogether. Let vertical sync keep the frame rates constant and at a max of 60. You can remove the LowFX setting too. | ||

| Reu, Have you tried changing the refresh rate in the in-game menu options? I haven't been able to locate any specs information on your monitor (AOC 916W) at all. If it has a DVI connection, are you able to use a DVI cable instead of the standard VGA connection you're using now? ________________________________________________ I'm available Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time "A working class hero is something to be...." | Reu , Also i made my prefs file read only after making this change DisplayModeRefreshRate "60" and its no longer over writing itself. That's because the file is now read-only. This isn't a fix for anything really. Make sure you're not using one of the windowed modes. If you are, you won't be able to adjust the refresh rate in the game. ________________________________________________ I'm available Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time "A working class hero is something to be...." | Reu , You're right, my mistake. I was thinking of World of Warcraft where they let you select the refresh rate as well as the resolution. The option isn't available in Diablo III. Forcing it as you did would normally be fine but as it keeps changing, something is telling the game that your monitor's refresh rate is 75Hz. I don't see where that's coming from based on what dxdiag is reporting as the native rate. Monitor Name: AOC 916W Monitor Model: 916W Monitor Id: AOC1916 Native Mode: 1440 x 900(p) (59.887Hz) I don't really think the refresh rate being higher like it is is going to cause the symptoms you have though. I'd expect the screen to maybe black out occasionally but it would have a message to the effect "something was out of range" coming from the monitor itself. I can't see it causing the game to freeze or crash. Posting your D3Debug.txt file may help. It's located in the main Diablo III game folder. Edit out your account name first though. It's going to appear in a few places in the file. Try to grab the file just after the problem occurs. ________________________________________________ I'm available Monday - Friday, 12 pm - 8 pm Pacific Time "A working class hero is something to be...."
