Diablo III says Starter Edition(1)Category: Technical SupportApril-30-2013 7:19 PM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
A while back they had an offer where if you signed a contract stating that if you agreed to remain a paying member of World of Warcraft, you would get a bunch of in game bonuses and a free digital copy of Diablo III. I got everything that it told me I would get, but shortly before the release of Diablo III, I left for boot camp and only got the chance to play the game on my short break home between duty stations.
At the time I actually got to sit and play Diablo III, there was nothing wrong. It's some time later now, and my Battle.net account is saying that my copy of Diablo III is only a starter copy. From what I understand, this is only a fraction of the game and doesn't give you the free range that actually purchasing the copy gives you.
I was unsure if I was the only one having this problem, but it seems like many other people had this problem when trying to upgrade. I didn't find anyone that had my particular issue with the Starter Edition.

Thinz,

What happened was you obtained Diablo III via the World of Warcraft Annual Pass Program, but you let the payment method for that lapse back in early December 2012, thereby breaking the agreement. The benefits are removed when that happens. You'll need to submit a support ticket and speak to our Billing Department to get that straightened out. Afterwards, they should be able to reinstate the Diablo III account for you.

This article will lead you through the process.
