| I'm creating this thread in response to Travis claiming that "best in slot" is subjective. Oh Really? Lets show him he's wrong. There is at most 2 or maybe even 3 items for each class for best in Slot. I can update this thread as needed. Since I specialize in the only class I use, I'll just start with the wizard and others can do the other classes: Helm: Mempo of Twilight with 6% Crit Chance Amulet: Tal Rasha's Allegiance Blackthorne's Duncraig Cross Crafted amulet Shoulders: Vile Ward Crafted Spauders Chest: Tal Rasha's Relentless Pursuit Absolute BiS. No way around it. Gloves: Rare or Crafted ONLY: 150+ INT, Res All, 8%+ CritChance, 20+% CritDamage and 8-9% IAS Wrist: Lacuni Prowlers Crafted Razorspikes Rings: Natalya's Reflection with crit chance Unity Zunimassa's Pox Rare or Crafted trifecta ring Belt: The Witching Hour. 'Nuff said Pants: Inna's Temperance Rare with high int (150+), vit(250+) armor and all res Blackthorne's Jousting Mail Feet: Natalya's Bloody Footprints (assuming you have the ring with crit chance) Zunimassa's Trail Ice Climbers Weapon: Rare wand with 1200dps, 80-100% crit damage and socket Rare wand with 1100dps, crit damage, socket and life steal Chantodo's Will Echoing Fury Slorak's Madness Source: Triumvirate Chantodo's Force Tal Rasha's Unwavering Glare | ||

| It's best if you take the whole answer in its full context, rather just focus on the first sentence of it. :) Bolded the part that's probably more relevant for you (i.e. Travis agrees with you): Travis: Best-in-slot is a subjective term. What is the best for one class or play style isn't necessarily the best for everyone. Currently, itemization has the problem that it is largely supported by a handful of affixes that increase your damage in varying degrees. Because almost all items can very easily be distilled down to their DPS value, it quickly turns into a numbers game. This is a side effect of the fact that there really aren't any items that provide intangible benefits beyond raw damage. It is also an issue because there are no items that can improve your play experience or efficiency other than those that simply increase your character sheet DPS. We have plans to try to create more interesting item choices, and I've talked a bit about what those plans are in my previous blog, if you want to take a look. Will there still be a "best-in-slot" item for a particular build of a particular class? Probably, but that's never really been the problem. There will always be best-in-slot items for specific builds and setups. The problem today is that we have items that are universally best-in-slot, regardless of your class or build. Right now, items that are best-in-slot for a Demon Hunter are probably also best-in-slot for a Monk, and that's one of the big things we're looking to address. There's also already another discussion going on about this very topic here, if you want to join in! | ||
