| This is the result of a team with no direction, even under Jay Wilson. There was a lack of direction and his wake has been left with a team who do nothing but backpeddle and talk, with zero results. Wyatt: When the game was in development, we the Blacksmith had the ability to add a socket to an item. Adding a socket makes the item better, so you pretty much always wanted to do it, and we found adding the socket felt like a small chore that didn’t actually increase the gameplay depth. You already need to insert gems to a socketed item, and felt having to add a socket as well would be a step too many. With that in mind, there are still some gameplay benefits to adding a socket that we’d still like to capture. Although having to add a socket every time can feel like a chore, if there was a mechanic that made it a legitimate decision, that is something we could explore. Okay u want a legitimate decisions. We get it, make something that's legit. Why has it been this long? It's more of a chore that so many useless weapons are junk bc it has no socket....some weapons cant even have the option to get socket and crit combo or with lifesteal. For example, adding a socket to an item as the result of a one-time quest reward feels really awesome, but over time it starts to become more of a burden instead of a benefit. When you have to level a new character through the entire game just so you can socket the new cool weapon you want to use, the shine starts to wear off really fast. Okay, so now doing socket quest is a burden. Gotcha....is it not a burden the legitimate decision? Do i want to be burden go do a one time quest to add a socket to my guy? Decisions decisions...oh wait decisions is bad in this game. Everything is a chore or a burden these days...going back to town to socket a weapon. CHORE.......going through the game and doing a quest. BURDEN! I rather be burdened and have a good item with a socket than have a sea of useless junk....seriously this alone fixes ALOT wrong with itemization. A weapon with no socket is vendor trash or instant brim yet they haven't figured this out yet. Seriously? Wyatt and Travis post a few times in the forums and many people were hopeful until you realize they just pop in and never answer or read any follow up questions. They are just a bunch of people who run around in circles talking many things with no results. What's surprising is they want to make "elemental damage" relevant again but they haven't come up with a solution yet in nearly a year since release and nearly a decade since this games inception. Everyone else in the genre seems to be doing it just fine and yet they haven't a clue where to begin? If they cannot even come up with the simplest solutions how can we expect anything truly be done? At this point, i say hire someone, anyone outside of blizzard that has worked on ANY RPG that isn't MMO. They cannot be any worse than whoever is in charge of this game direction right now. This is what happens when you hire someone with a background in strategy games who worked a little bit on WoW who hated Diablo 2. Then his terrible philosophy and overthinking has already corrupted most of his staff with these very same problems. GG Blizz... GG indeed. | ||

| You seem like you have some constructive things to say, but it's just gotten lost in a lot of vitriol and frustration. =/ You're welcome to remake this thread, just try to keep it appropriate for the forums, okay? In this case, it means attacking issues you disagree with (not people). | ||
