Cannot play latency is at zero(1)Category: Technical SupportMarch-17-2013 7:54 AM PDT (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hi,

I'm on the Americas server and whenever I connect whether single or multiplayer it takes too long and when I finally do the latency is at zero. I would have to wait for a long time for the latency to move but it will be set to a high number and the game is still unplayable.

I have done a trace route and a path ping test. Pls. advice as to what steps I can take to let me play the game.

It looks like your latency issue might be related to your ISP's peering partner, Telia. Your connection looks fine while it is going through your ISP's local network, but once it gets into Telia's network, it starts losing data. That data loss is represented in the tracert by the asterisks. Since this is something outside of our network, there is not much we can do. However, you should be able to contact your ISP so that they can look into this further, as they may have to contact their peering partner to look into this from their end.

Peering partners are just servers that belong to one ISP, but are used by another ISP in order for their connection to be reach it's destination.

AT&T is our backbone. As far as I'm aware, Telia is not part of our network. It just shows up in our tracerts because they are used by other ISPs.

As far as you path ping goes, it looks OK, but there are a few lines that show some lost data packets, which pretty much correlates what was shown in the trace route.
