I have a game hang that happens occasionally that I haven't been able to pinpoint a cause.
I haven't found any common causes, other than they tend to happen in multiplayer games in rakkis crossing. But I have also crashed elsewhere and while playing solo. I'm looking for some help in identifying the cause. Random crashes do not mesh well with my habit of playing hardcore. (I'd like for them not to claim my 70 monk since they've already slaughtered my 75wd). I'm pasting a D3debug.txt file from the most recent game I crashed in. Those last lines, are they a symptom of my crash or the cause? | grapefruit, Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. | ||

| grapefruit, I'm not seeing anything in there I could point to as being a problem, it all looks fine. FMOD errors are typically related to sound. Your sound drivers aren't that old nor is the on-board Realtek known to have any issues with the game. If you have a pair of USB headphones, you might try using them instead though and see if there's a difference. Other than that, I really don't know. We've received a fair amount of FMOD-related crash logs from people but as of yet, we've not yet identified any causes. Sometimes, a driver update helps as does using a lower sound channel setting, but you're already as low as you can go at 16. You might try 32 though. | ||

| Strongodds/LEFRENCHDUKE, It might help if you could both post your D3Debug.txt files shortly after the next time it freezes. Don't use a Hardcore character though as it may be lost in the process. The file is located in the main Diablo III game folder. Edit out your account name first though. It's going to appear in a few places in the file. | ||

| Yoshi, Every time you run the game, it writes to the D3Debug.txt file. With the game closed, could you delete it and then run the game. When it hangs, post what's in the D3Debug.txt file that will have been created again. I'm not necessarily looking for anything in particular, I just want to see the entire log file so as to get a picture of what was happening when it hung. | ||
