Graphic Issue: Flickering Lines on People(1)Category: Technical SupportMarch-2-2013 1:08 PM PST (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hi,

I just logged in after a few weeks and there are crazy flickering lines coming out of all of the people in the game. I don't know if it is because of the D3 patch, the latest catalyst patch (13.1) or a windows update or what. Can someone recognize the problem and suggest a solution? (I don't know the terminology - what is 'tearing'?)

I have an ATI Radeon HD 5800 series.

Here are a couple screens, it's hard to see in a screenshot due to the flickering nature of the problem, but it is pretty visibly pronounced in the game:

Thanks!

viresium,

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder.

viresium,

Try a couple of things for me if you will please.

In the in-game video settings, disable the fps limiters you currently have enabled and enable Vertical Sync.

Reset the Catalyst settings back to their factory defaults

1. Right click on your desktop, open up Catalyst Control Center.
2. If you do not have Advanced options to begin with, make that happen.
3. In the upper right hand corner of the window, go to Options. (newer versions of CCC will have a Preferences selection instead)
4. Go down to Preferences. (skip if you're already there)
5. Select Restore Factory Defaults.
6. Try playing the game again using your usual settings.

You might also try disabling anti-aliasing in-game.

See if doing all of the above has any effect on the issue.
