| Frequent game freeze - almost unplayable(1) | Category: Technical SupportFebruary-21-2013 8:27 AM PST (10 years ago) ![]() | |
| After a very long time away, I thought that I'd come back and give it another go. Unfortunately, the game freezes so frequently that it is virtually unplayable. All of my drivers are up to date, I have plenty of memory and it used to play fine. I play several other games and none of them have this issue of freezing for 3 - 10 seconds then being fine for a small period of time, then freezing again. Is this common? I set all the video settings to low. | ||

| nivho, Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. . | ||

| nivho, Try making these changes to your D3Prefs.txt file (while the game is closed). Change these lines: LimitForegroundFPS "1" LimitBackgroundFPS "1" HardwareClass "5" to LimitForegroundFPS "0" LimitBackgroundFPS "0" HardwareClass "4" You might also want to reset the Catalyst Control Center settings back to the factory defaults. 1. Right click on your desktop, open up Catalyst Control Center. 2. If you do not have Advanced options to begin with, make that happen. 3. In the upper right hand corner of the window, go to Options. (newer versions of CCC will have a Preferences selection instead) 4. Go down to Preferences. (skip if you're already there) 5. Select Restore Factory Defaults. Test the game again afterwards. They're small changes but they may make a difference for you. | ||
