HaKunaMatata,

Are you saying it's dropping from 60 fps to something considerably lower while playing when a lot of monsters appear? That would generally indicate the computer being used is being stressed or possibly having power-saving features enabled when you don't want them to be.

Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder.

And lastly, I'd like to see the D3Debug.txt file too so we can be sure the Nvidia card is being used to play the game. If your system uses Optimus tech, it's possible it may not be switching properly away from the integrated video.

The file is located in the main Diablo III game folder. Edit out your account name first though. It's going to appear in a few places in the file.

HaKunaMatata,

Try enabling Vertical Sync in the game and removing the in-game fps limiters as they can behave strangely sometimes. I'd also try disconnecting the external HDMI-connected display and seeing how it behaves on the laptops internal screen only.

HaKunaMatata,

I want to see if just using the internal screen makes a difference. Having two active screens may be causing an extra load on the laptop being able to perform as I mentioned above.
