moving an item quickly freezes game(1)Category: Bug ReportsJanuary-7-2013 12:28 PM PST (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Ok, this doesn't happen all the time but occasionally if I have an item in my inventory that I want to move and I mouse over, click and start moving it too fast it just completely hard-locks my game.

I have to ctrl+alt+delete and end the process in order to do anything else on my computer.

Victor,

I've got a lot of hours in the game and I can't say it's ever happened to me. For us to investigate it, we'd need reproducible steps though. It might also be hardware/connection related.

What type internet connection do you use? Is it wireless?

Can you post some information about your computer so we can get an idea of what hardware you're using? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Click on Start
Click on Run
Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field)
Hit Enter or OK

Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here.

Pastafazool,

We'll need to see if the OP posts his dxdiag info so we can make a comparison. I've not seen anyone else post about the symptom so I'm inclined to believe it's something to do with your setup, not the game. I could be wrong though. It needs to be easily reproducible in order for it to be checked out by our QA team. That becomes easier if we see common hardware being used.

Victor / Pastafazool,

Ok, the only two things I see you both having in common is the use of an ATI HD 6000 series video card. For troubleshooting, I'd first try resetting the Catalyst Settings back to the defaults.

1. Right click on your desktop, open up Catalyst Control Center.
2. If you do not have Advanced options to begin with, make that happen.
3. In the upper right hand corner of the window, go to Options. (newer versions of CCC will have a Preferences selection instead)
4. Go down to Preferences. (skip if you're already there)
5. Select Restore Factory Defaults.
6. Try playing the game again using your usual settings.

Beyond that, I'd want to see if it continued to happen if a different model video card was in use.
