| Hi, I bought Diablo III back when I had my old computer but that one was unable to run it, and so for the holidays I got a new one that can, but it annoys the hell out of me. I try to play, but I'm now stuck at skeleton king, which I just cannot defeat, because I get an FPS of... 7. Yes. 7. Is there someone out there with any hints? I already put al my video settings on the lowest and modified the D3Prefs document settings, but still I'm unable to play. Thanks for the help. | ||

| Killswitch, Can you post some information about your computer? You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool: Click on Start Click on Run Type in: dxdiag (In Vista, type dxdiag in the search field) Hit Enter or OK Click on the Save All Information button at the bottom, and create a dxdiag text file, and copy and paste it ALL here. Could you also post your D3Prefs.txt file? It's located in the My Documents\Diablo III folder. | ||

| Burla, Make sure your computer is using the NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M to play the game and not the Intel integrated display device. Performance will be much worse if it's using that. You should be able to right click the game icon you use to start the game and see an option for using the Nvidia part. You can look at your current D3Debug.txt file located in your Diablo III game folder to see what video device it's using. There will be a line approximately 200 lines down with "****** Graphics Device Info ******" to the right, Just below that it will list the graphics card being used to play. Change your D3pref settings back to what they were too. | ||

| Burla, Act 3 going across the bridge gives me problems too once in a while on a very high-end machine. I've found no reason why though yet. It doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while, though it's just a certain location on the bridge for me, not all of it. If you have low fps over the whole area, I'd have to think it's due to the amount of activity there overwhelming your computer in some way. Try disabling the fps limiters you have enabled in-game. When enabled, they can have an "odd" effect from my experience. In Windows, make sure you aren't using a power-saving power profile. It looks like you currently have it set to "Balanced" which will reduce your performance significantly. Current Setting: {651288E5-A7ED-4076-A96B-6CC62D848FE1} (Balanced) It should be set to "High Performance" | ||

| Burla, It's probably the power profile then. Open the Control Panel and look for the applet called "Power Options" and open it. Under preferred plans, select High Performance instead of Balanced. Test the game again. | ||
