| Patch 1.0.8(a) and VSync(1) | Category: Technical SupportMay-25-2013 7:51 AM PDT (10 years ago) ![]() | |
| I upgraded from patch 1.0.7 straight to 1.0.8a. As soon as I started playing (Hell Act II Witch Doctor) I noticed very obvious vertical tearing as soon as I started walking around town. I've always played without VSync and my system peaks at around 85 fps. Enabling VSync resolved the tearing issue. Has anyone else experienced this change between 1.0.7 and 1.0.8 or 1.0.8a? I definitely did not notice tearing prior to this patch. After selecting VSync, the frame rate locks at 60 fps, to match my LCD panel's refresh rate. Was there any benefit to having >60 fps on this machine before anyway? If the game is running at >60 fps, but my screen is only displaying 60 fps, I'll only "see" 60 fps anyway, right? | ||

| V-sync simply caps the game's FPS to your monitor's refresh rate SabreWolfy, so as long as you don't really need that extra few FPS then I'd say keep V-sync on if it cures the tearing. As any long-standing PC gamer can attest to, screen-tearing can be a fickle thing at times and it's often difficult to pinpoint a cause. The main thing is to keep your drivers as up to date as possible and your computer's insides as cool as you can (GPU's overheating is a common cause for screen-tearing). | ||
