| Hey I've just started up diablo 3 and in the start-up screen I downloaded patch 1.0.8 which was fine but when I started up the game and tried to log in I keep getting 'cannot create or join games at this time' (error 317002) and 'diablo 3 servers are not available try again later' (error 34200). Anyone know whats going on? | ||

| Excellent answer from Metoerblade in post #5. Our Community team recently posted a blog article about this. It's on the StarCraft II page as its a relatively new concept in that game. | ||

Posted by: TRS If you were not defaulting US clients for EU players on their account pages all this mess wouldn't happen. Valid feedback and I'm sure it will be improved in future iterations. But as it's only a short, minor inconvenience that happens to any single player once, it's obviously not a really high priority for our Battle.net team.

Posted by: archoms sorry not a really high priority for battle.net team.. are you serious.. i payd a decent amount of money for this game and would expect that i can play this game whenever i want, and you would do your part of job by sorting out all these things straight away.... But it's not broken archoms. The readability could be improved, sure, but so long as you download and install the regional client appropriate to the server you most regularly play on then it will work fine.

Posted by: archoms so the client has to do everything and sort out everything himself... and i thought the client is always right... maybe i am lets say 11 years old and i am not so good in all these techical things i have bought a game and i want to play a game and i dont know anything about severs and regions... so anyway it should be done right in first place not that i have started to play and after some time i find out that by default i have got the wrong client... you should give me the right client when i first downloaded the game.. Well it's a 15+ game in the majority of countries, but I understand your point. However, as much as we would love to, we really can't hold everyone's hand through everything. And, if a mistake is made then it's very easy to fix. If need be, our support team can guide you through it step-by-step it's that simple.

Posted by: humey So we as the clients have to ensure we download the correct client, this all feels like Blizzard are just passing the buck again. Who cares about the 'buck'? It's such an insignificant inconvenience that there is no buck to pass. Just download the right client and the game will work properly again and for every future patch. Posted by: humey I never had an option to select a region etc. I doubt this very much, if so there must have been some kind of browser issue. However, once again it doesn't really matter because it's very easy to fix. If you are not able to select the client's region then try again in another Internet browser. Posted by: humey So I, through no fault of my own, have to re-download and re-install Diablo 3 on my mac to get it to work when I was un-aware that I had even downloaded the wrong client in the first place (as I mentioned I downloaded the client from my b.net account area). Or you can play on US servers once they're out of maintenance or wait until the EU server is patched, whichever is the most convenient for you personally. Posted by: humey If it's easy enough for a user to download the correct client version from their account area you would think that Blizzard would be able to implement a solution for providing the user with the correct client based on their registered/main location maybe? Yes and no. Geolocation defaulting can cause problems, but it is something we would like to do try to do in the future with client downloads.

I'd appreciate a little "hand holding" - perhaps improving the user friendliness of the error messages. Plain language should be the goal not an afterthought. It is tricky that you need to google error codes and sort through dozens of incorrect opinions before you reach the gold such as Meteorblade's reply. Agree with this, and as you can see from the StarCraft II blog I linked above, it's already implemented in that game and should make it to Diablo III at some point in the future.
