Captain Hale causes my game to crash(1)Category: Technical SupportDecember-28-2012 6:08 PM PST (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hi, I'm playing Hardcore, nightmare act 3 with my barb right now. I've never had an issue with this before, but I'm at the part called "turning the tide" where you get the objective to raise the catapults. Well rigth before you can enter the area of the keep to do this, you have to talk to Capt. hale (it triggers the scene where the monsters pop out of the keep roof). Every time I talk to capt hale, my game locks up - then causes my whole computer to absolutely wreck itself. Every single time, I have to manually restart the computer by just completely turning it off - task manager gets locked up, pressing power down on the ctrl alt delete menu doesn't work, etc.

Help plz? This is keeping me from progressing and I really want to hit hardcore 60 soon.

resinHITS,

I need to see the D3Debug.txt file copied right after it does what you describe please.

It's located in the main Diablo III game folder. Edit out your account name first though. It's going to appear in a few places in the file.

resinHITS,

I don't see it actually crashing anywhere, it's just stopping with the logging.

I'd do a couple of things here that may help.

Delete the following folder, \Diablo III\Data_D3\PC\MPQs\Cache first, then run the repair tool in the launcher. You access that under the Help tab across the top of the launcher. It can take a while to run as it rebuilds the deleted info so please be patient and let it finish.

I'd change the min/max freq settings in Windows probably too. Maybe down to 48000/48000 instead of 96000/96000. Set the speaker setting to stereo for now too.

Make sure your Realtek sound drivers are current too.
