Account hacked - how long for blizz response(1)Category: Technical SupportJanuary-2-2013 1:01 PM PST (10 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hello,

I'm writing on behalf of my friend, who recently decided to get back into blizzard world after like year break (WoW to be exact, but i can't post on wow forums, still doesn't matter since it's battlenet account we're talking about i guess).

Unfortunately he found his account hacked, including password and e-mail changes. Netherless, he has filled the account recovery form, succesfully, but almost a week has passed, and nothing came to the original e-mail (the same filled in form). So my question is, how long can this procedure take, what would happen, if he filled recovery form once again (maybe it was broken? Altho there was success message)? Thanks in advance.

Best regards

That's way too long Maljar. If your friend hasn't heard anything yet, he should fill out another webform and ensure that the emails aren't being caught in a spam/junk filter.

If your friend still has access to the account then they just need to reply to the support ticket. If not, then they can create a new support ticket with the requested information.

Well in that case, there should be specific instructions in the email on how to provide the necessary data Maljar.

Hello again Maljar. I apologise in advance if my answer below doesn't address your issue directly, but for privacy reasons I can't go into too many details here in a public forum.

This is how it works:

Account recovery webform submission ☛ Additional information request from the agent ☛ If request contains no instructions on how to submit said information, create another account recovery webform ticket with appropriate information attached (our systems will automatically merge the cases, don't worry).

OR:

Create new Battle.net account ☛ Submit a ticket with details ☛ Go through normal support ticket routine (responses et al).

However, both of these options can only be used by the original account owner and in the case of the second one, the owner of BOTH Battle.net accounts. We will not be able to assist a 3rd party.

On the sidenote i think Blizzard should make things like account recovery more clearly, about speific steps of process.

This is a valid comment Maljar and to some extent we agree with you, in an ideal world it would be a simple one-click process. However, we also have to consider the privacy and security implications of any procedural changes. We won't compromise on the security part, but we're always looking for ways that we can make the whole experience more convenient and user friendly and there are some ideas floating around regarding how we might achieve this in the future.

If you have any specific suggestions for us on this matter, you should send them to us using the in-game support portal.

Hello again Maljar, sorry for the late response.

I believe that this has been handled by our support team already.
