| D3 process doesn't close on exit - CPU usage stays high(1) | Category: Technical SupportJanuary-12-2016 5:40 PM PST (7 years ago) ![]() | |
| Edit: The developers have identified the cause for the delay in the game closing. We just have to wait until a fix is deployed. There's unfortunately no ETA I can provide for that. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos Original post: Starting with patch 2.4 the D3 Process doesn't close when you exit the game, taking up significant CPU cycles for no real reason. Can someone else test to make sure its not just me? Stand in town, hit ESC, exit Diablo. Look in Task Manager and you'll see Diablo still happily "running" for over 30 seconds. Happens every time, regardless of how I run the game; desktop app or not. (with just a shortcut) This is particularly annoying when I multibox as the CPU jumps to 100% when I exit the game, and stays there. Specs: Win7 64bit (including today's MS patches) 670GTX (latest drivers) 16GB SSD with lots of free space Thanks [Post edited two times, last edit by LazyBoy#1432 at January-26-2016 12:11 PM PST (7 years ago)] | ||

| Could any of you experiencing the game taking a long time to close after exiting try the following? Start the game up as you normally do. Then alt tab out if needed to close the Battle.net Desktop App. Make sure it's not still running in the background by checking in the Task Manager. I use the details tab in Windows 10 in order to view both the game and the desktop app (listed as Battle.net.exe). In other versions of Windows, I think it still shows them both under the processes tab. You may also want to close the agent.exe task as well. Then close the game and see if stopping the above tasks resolves it not closing right away. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| DevilSonata, Can you post your D3Debug.txt file please? It's located in your Diablo III game folder. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| DevilSonata, That was helpful I think. It looks like this is where the minute is being spent, in between these two log lines. 2016.01.15 01:21:25.088948000 ===== Battle.net Client Service Shutdown ===== 2016.01.15 01:22:23.759622700 SNOFilesDispose() I need to see a few more D3Debug.txt files to see if this pattern holds true. Please, any other users reading this with the same problem, post your info. @DevilSonata - I'm curious, do you have a large Friend's list in D3 or are you in a large clan? ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| DevilSonata, Ok, that's maybe interesting too. Could you try something while I'm waiting for more debug files? Try connecting to the Europe region instead of the Americas and see if the same issue happens there. If it's related to the clan in any way, I'd expect it not to happen there. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| LazyBoy, That's fine. It's indicating a minute elapsing at the end before fully exiting too. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||

| Ok, I've enough info for now. Thanks to those who provided it. I've sent it over and discussed it with our QA department and they're investigating it now. We'll have to wait and see what they come up with I'm afraid. ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 3:00 pm Pacific Time, Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||
