New high end rig with extremely long map loading times(1)Category: Technical SupportJanuary-26-2016 1:41 PM PST (7 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Recently built high end gaming computer. Whenever I am entering a game, rift, or changing maps I experience long loading times. I am a good 5 seconds slower than my friend who is using my old computer.

Other than loading times the game runs flawless. No fps or issues of any kind other than loading times.

Current system specs:
Windows 7 64 bit Pro

Motherboard - MSI X99A SLI KRAIT EDITION LGA 2011-v3 Intel X99 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

Video - EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti 06G-P4-1996-KR 6GB HYBRID GAMING

PSU - CORSAIR RM750i 750W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS

CPU - Intel Core i7-5820K Haswell-E 6-Core 3.3 GHz LGA 2011-v3 140W BX80648I75820K

Memory - CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000

HDD - Mushkin Enhanced Reactor 2.5" 1TB SATA III Internal Solid State Drive

Checked all temperatures and system usages cpu/gpu and so now blaring issues. Thought maybe it has something to do with DDR 4 but haven't found any know issues with memory of that type and Diablo. Anyone who had any advice or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Chowmein,

What's the hardware configuration of your old machine? What type internet connection do you and your friend use? I assume you're both loading into the same location while playing together in the same game?

FWIW - You've got pretty much an identical system to what I have at home, even the same water cooled 980 Ti. I overclock my 5820k to 4.5 GHz though, not sure if you are or not and I have 32 gig ram running at 2600 though they're rated at 3000 (more stable at 2600). I'm also using a significantly faster SSD for my OS (M.2 Samsung SM951 256 gig) and have the game running on a slower but still faster than the Mushkin M.2 SSD Samsung XP841 256 gig. I have no loading issues and use Windows 10.

Chowmein,

The speed of the connection isn't so important, I was mostly wondering if either of you is on wireless or using a proxy/vpn service of any kind. Those could be introducing a delay.

Chowmein,

Well, what it comes down to then is what's different between the two systems. On paper, yours should be faster, but there are many variables still. Background apps that are running, antivirus and malware apps that may be scanning constantly, an improperly installed SSD meaning it may not be tuned for the best performance. You'd want to run an SSD benchmark program on both machines to see if they're significantly different. The 2600K could be overclocked giving it an advantage?
