Computer Crashes on Launch of D3(1)Category: Technical SupportFebruary-2-2016 8:05 PM PST (7 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hey there,

When I launch Diablo 3, both as administrator and not as admin, it starts to load up and gives me the RoS logo in the center of my screen. After the RoS logo goes away, the screen goes black and then my computer shuts off. I have a Radeon HD 6800 video card. I have attempted to copy 2 earlier .dll files into my Diablo 3 folder as instructed here and in multiple reddit threads: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=399547 This was supposed to solve any graphics driver issues but the problem still persists. I have scanned Diablo 3 and it was not in need of repair. I have played a few 100 hours of Diablo 3 in the past but after reinstalling it and after upgrading to Windows 10 this new problem has come up.

If anyone has anything I can try to get this working again please let me know! I have been looking at dozens of threads from the last year hoping to find an answer that will fix this issue but nothing has worked for me so I'm going to try to throw this up here and see if it helps.

Thanks

While this seems to work earlier, it's causing a problem now for users also running the newer Crimson Edition drivers. We recommend removing the files you added to your Diablo III game folder and running the latest drivers you can get for your card from AMD.

This may not resolve your immediate issue but we first need to make sure you're running with the recommended setup and go from there. Once you've accomplished the above and are still seeing a problem, let me know. If you do need to reply, be sure to include your dxdiag info. You can find this information in the Direct X Diagnostic Tool:

Press Windows Key + R.
Type DxDiag and press Enter.
In the DxDiag window, at the bottom, click Save All Information.
Name the file "dxdiag" and click Save. (note where it's been saved so you can find it)
