| klaus, Hard to say from just that info. Having 20 Gigs ram means you're mixing module sets which can sometimes be problematic. Let's see your dxdiag info first though and if you would, describe what you mean by "massive performance problems". | klaus, If you hear the fan spinning up, it's the video card reacting to an overheating condition. It's likely throttling itself down to keep from being damaged which will impact your performance quite a bit. I'd first check to make sure the video card's heatsink assembly isn't full of dust. You'd need to remove the card pretty much to check for that and use canned air to clean it out if necessary. Other than that, you can limit the FPS the game can run at in the in-game menu. It's under Options. You'd have to place a checkmark next to the slider for Max Foreground FPS and then set it to a value like 60 FPS. Enabling Vertical Sync should have the same effect on the same page. That will limit the frame rate effectively to your monitor's refresh rate. | klaus, If your video card fan is spinning up like that , it's likely to be a cooling problem. How hot do you see it getting?
