2+ weeks latency(1)Category: Technical SupportSeptember-11-2015 2:06 PM PDT (7 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
I have issues on both my laptop as well as pc, Playing from home, friend's house, and campus wifi (got desperate). I often have some latency, but more so I will have a massive lag spike that freezes my client. As one example, I was rifting and teleported. Mid teleport my client locked up and I couldn't do anything. In these instances I cannot access the menu to leave the current game, but have to alt-tab and close it out from my desktop. One thing I noticed that helped to reduce the latency issues was to drop my graphics settings to bare minimum.

As suggested in other posts, I have run the trace route with the following results:

MrJasper,

It doesn't sound like a connection issue really, but rather it sounds like a "freezing" issue we're still looking into.

When it happens again, try this. Hit Control-Alt-Delete and go into your Task Manager. Then just exit the Task Manager and go back to the game screen. It usually frees up when you do this. This isn't a solution by any means but it's a possible way to continue playing.

It also doesn't seem to be an issue just with Blizzard games as if you were to Google "game freezes alt tab", you'll see it's affecting a lot of things.
