Random HUGE lag spike and game disconnect(1)Category: Technical SupportMay-17-2016 2:37 PM PDT (8 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Since recently, about one or two weeks ago, randomly, I have HUGE lag spike, It's becoming more and more unbearable.

It happen both in solo and in group, In town or in a rift. And being inside a game don't even matter, I sometime have trouble to join one.

I have issue like this ONLY with diablo 3, Heroes of the Storm has no issues, other online game run perfectly, no lag, no freezes, nothing. And I have no internet issue when experience one of those lag spike.

Informations:
  • ISP: Belgacom (Belgium)
  • IP: IPv4, IPv6 is deactivated
  • DNS: Google's (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)
  • Pathping: http://pastebin.com/bUJvhTLY & http://pastebin.com/ujTmhbg5
  • Looking Glass: http://pastebin.com/9Ss6GyHP
  • DxDiag: http://pastebin.com/X6FZNq9P
  • MsInfo: http://pastebin.com/5AVrCs0f & http://pastebin.com/4fkpQ9Ar
  • It would be nice not to have a "pre-determine" answer for a certain type of question, I mean, don't ask me to contact my ISP, or to make modification to my dns/ip. It won't fix the fact that I have lags (HUGE lags) on Diablo 3, and only on Diablo 3.

Like a lot of other people out there, I have latency issue since recently, it would be nice opf you to do something about it.

    Thx a lot ;)

EDIT: I can now confirm (not that I was doubting it) that it isn't my connection. It's either hardware or software related. I tried to run Diablo3 on my Macbook Pro mid-2012, and I had no issue.

Can you all post your hardware config and ur os ? We might find we all have something in common. I guess we have to do Blizzard job in finding why this is happening to us and not to other.

    I'm running on:
    - Windows 10 Professional
    - i5 6600k
    - MSI GTX 970 4G
    - MSI Z170A GAMING PRO
    - 2x 4Go Corsair DDR4 2400MHz
    - D-Link DWA-582 (WiFi PCI card)

    Hello Elhebert,

Thank you for posting some data here. Unfortunately, the pathping is of no use because it doesn't reach our servers. But the looking glas shows a spike within your ISPs network

    9 lg-10-100.msr41lge5.isp.belgacom.be (91.183.242.129) 7.236 ms 7.259 ms 7.258 ms
    10 179.101-201-80.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be (80.201.101.179) 27.066 ms 26.377 ms 26.441 ms
which might be the problem. Did you get those data when the lagspike occuredß Or shortly after? Because that might be helpful.

As well, you seem to use a wireless connection to your router. Could you connect to the router by cable and see if that makes a difference?

    Kind regards

    Hello Elhebert,

Thank you for coming back. Could you please provide a fresh dxdiag and MSInfo from your PC. As it works with no problem on a different machine in your household, it must be something with the PC. Let's see if we can find out.

    Kind regards
