Hello. Having this issue and getting a bit desperate. First of all, my specs: i5 2500k @ 4.9k GHz (also tried without overclock - the problem actually gets worse without it) 980ti @ 1505/8000 GHz (same as with CPU, this OC was/is one of the steps to try and adress the issue - definitely not the cause of it) As you can see, these specs should be able to run a stable 1440p@144hz. And, actually, I get ~150-180 FPS most of the time. It's worth noting that the game never goes above ~60% GPU usage for me. When I play solo, or sometimes in group but in 'mild' locations like caves or prisons, everything is totally fine; however, whenever I'm in party and in some open location (especially with 'grass' and/or water puddles), any serious fight (like 2-3 elite packs and lots of white mobs at once, having bombardments flying all over the place, wizard explosions powered by orb of infinite depth going off and full screen covered with multishots) results in sudden FPS drops. Sometimes it happens randomly, without any serious reason on the screen. The most amazing part about it is that according to GPU-Z or MSI Afterburner, the game/videocard decide to actually drop the GPU boost and revert from my usual 1.23 volts and 1505Mhz to 1.01 and 1139 respectively. The 'Perf Cap' reason is stated as 'Utilization' during those FPS drops. Just think about it: the reason for videodriver to suddenly cap the performance of my card at such '2D/Desktop' values is actually 'Utilization' - like, the game suddenly stops demanding power from the card, and, surprisingly, it does so during the most heavy loads. And this happens for, like, 2 years already, if I'm not mistaken after googling this issue. Going from 128 channels to 16 has almost no effect for me, probably due to having a PCIe Sound Card and not an integrated one. Going from 'Hardware class 4' to '1' had almost no effect, but going to '6' actually decreased the amount of Voltage/FPS/Freq drops, but didn't eliminate them completely. And, finally, my DxDiag: http://pastebin.com/QpQ35Lj4 |

Hello Beatrice, From your description, it would seem that the issue you're experiencing is related to your system power management. It might be caused by your GPU/PC settings or by your PSU. Please make sure your power management settings are on High Performance. To do it:
Check also your nVidia settings:
I suggest you also testing your PSU to make sure it provides the necessary power for your setup. _________________________________________________________ Feedback? Click here! https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Vyraneer |

Hello Beatrice, As far as I know, the game doesn't have a way of altering hardware's voltage. That said, if you do believe there's an issue with the game itself, then the best thing is posting this information on the bug report forum: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/5386229/ Unfortunately we can't investigate bugs related to game mechanics from the support forum. Keep in mind this forum is aimed towards support with technical issues; installation, crashes, connection issues, performance, etc. Posting on the bug report forums, the issue will be investigated directly by the development team, since they do check that forum personally. On top of that, it's easier for them to check the impact an issue has on the community if they have all the reports on the same place, making it easier to prioritise them accordingly. Due to the amount of reports they receive, they usually don't answer every thread there, but don't worry; they'll check the issue anyway. ______________________________________________________ Got feedback about the support I'm providing?
