Out of date game version(1)Category: Technical SupportMay-11-2015 7:19 AM PDT (8 years ago) Go to Blizzard forum post
Hi there, first time encountering this issue so I don't know if its Diablo or battle.net launcher based so I thought I'd try here since my other games EXCEPT for Diablo work.

Basically when I try to locate the game folder for Diablo 3 my Battle.net launcher recognizes it as an "out of date" game folder, my question is, how do I patch my game to be able to be launched?

Upon trying to run the .exe of Diablo 3 from the game folder it opens the battle.net launcher and I hit the same "Your game is out of date" error message.

Upon trying to run the launcher for Diablo 3, NOT Battle.net launcher, It does the same thing as the .exe. Opens up the battle.net launcher and tells me again that the game is out of date.

Is there a fix to this other than re downloading the entire game? Being an Australian with a cap on the amount that I can download each month makes issues like these particularly more bothersome when the only fix is to spend my download allowance on redownloading a game I only actually need patched.

Resh ,

You can't run the executable directly, you must use the launcher as that's how we determine if your game needs any updating or not. If it's really out of date by quite a while, it would be best to download/install it fresh as that would avoid the file conversion over to the new system introduced recently.

Alternatively, if you have a friend nearby who plays, you might want to try copying over his installed game folder to a flash drive and then copy it back over to your PC. The folder is about 13.2 gigs in size.
