| I have had the above laptop for two and a half years now and in that time have occasionally used it for gaming while my desktop was down and have never run into any issues aside from excessive heat generated. Since last week I have been away for work so decided I would bring it with me to play some Diablo 3 in my downtime. For the first 4 days it ran no problem, I was on the default graphic driver for the HD 4000 integrated graphics and every time I started the game it would prompt me to download an updated graphics driver. Ever since updating to the latest driver the laptop will run the game for anywhere from 1 minute to 10 minutes and just shut down. Over the weekend I updated everything available through the Samsung Update program including BIOS and Sound drivers, problem still occurred. After rolling back drivers one by one and reverting to PO5AAC BIOS (from PO7AAC) the problem still occurs. Even after formatting there is no improvement. The first week where I had no problems the game was installed on an external USB 2.0 HDD, since updating everything with Samsung Update I made enough room on the laptop. I have been running SpeedFan to monitor temps and playing the game in windowed mode and the highest I have seen since the problems is around 78c for the CPU. While in game the computer shuts down anywhere from 60c to 78c so I'm pretty sure that overheating isn't the issue. Running FurMark will also cause the laptop to shutdown within the first 30 seconds. Tonight I downloaded the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and ran a benchmark, GPU stress test and Memory stress test for 5 minutes each, all which worked flawlessly. Highest temp on the GPU benchmark was around 85c which is higher then what Diablo 3 was pushing. At this point I really have no idea as to what the problem could be... Only thing I can't test for is the laptop charger not supplying enough power as the laptop spends 95% of its life connected to the charger could the charger be on its last legs? I'm running Diablo 3 on the lowest settings even though it isn't the most demanding of games. In the past I have played PoE with a lot more stuff happening on screen and it had no issues aside from FPS drops every now and then. I knew it was going to be pushing it gaming on this laptop but wasn't expecting issues like this. Specs are as follows if it matters. Intel i7 3517K 8gb ram 128gb SSD Win7 64bit Onboard sound/graphics... | ||

| Menzies, Running FurMark will also cause the laptop to shutdown within the first 30 seconds. Furmark stresses your video system. If it's shutting down while running that, it's overheating, or possibly drawing too much power. Furmark also displays a GPU temp graph while running. Have you noticed how hot it's reaching just before it shuts down? ______________________________________________________________ I'm available in the forums Tuesday - Thursday 6:30 am - 3:30 pm Pacific Time, Friday 11 am - 8 pm Pacific Time ,Saturday 10 am - 7 pm Pacific Time Feedback? - https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Omrakos | ||
