MCP #1477 | Zuni Feedback(1) | Category: PTR FeedbackFebruary-25-2015 4:18 PM PST (10 years ago) |
This thread is for constructive feedback for the new Zunimassa set and other pet related issues for the Witch Doctor. Please be civil and understanding. In summary, Zuni is unacceptable and not game changing as is. The item slots it uses fight with other already existing and better items, e.g. Unity, Tasker and Theo, and Mask of Jeram. I finally got around to reading the proposed changes to ZUNI...two words "synergy less" So let's fix it! Because that's what PTRs are for. A post by PaulNG, our unofficial MVP, with excellent ideas, please read: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/16411131935?page=8#155 Zuni gloves were added in order to make the new 6 piece bonus possible: "Enemies hit by your Mana spenders take 100% more damage from your pets for 4 seconds" That means chest, boots, mojo, ring, gloves, and helm is the six piece. Also, the pants (edit: Note, these pants are currently not part of the set, see below) come with a great bonus which will get us off the rain of toads train (really nice change imho): "Summon a Fetish Sycophant when you hit with a Mana spender" (edit: Patch notes are wrong, they added Zuni gloves. The gloves do not have the tasker and theo bonus, so... they better fix that. The "zuni" (not zuni) pants are these: https://i.imgur.com/DNUyWqF.jpg ) Problem: The issue is rings and helm are both highly contested slots. Mask of Jeram, Carnevil, or Tiklandian are required for any pet builds right now. Double unity is required for solo higher GR; there is no alternative for damage reduction. (A problem for party play in higher GRs) Unity/SoJ and tall man's finger (TMF) are great for ring slots. Now we have another ring, the little man's finger (LMF) (lol). There's simply no space for all of this! That means to get the six piece: 1. Drop unity, drop T&T, and use MoJ, Carnevil, or Tiklandian: Chest, boots, mojo, ring, RoRG, and gloves. 2. Keep unity, drop T&T, and use the Zuni helm: Chest, boots, mojo, RoRG, gloves, and helm. 3. Drop unity, keep T&T, and use the zuni helm: Chest, boots, mojo, ring, RoRG, and helm. #3 is the worst iteration of gear choices, so scratch that. (edit: Math on how much worse the zuni set is due to these forced item slots: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/16411131935?page=6#108 ) (more or less) shocking Conclusion: When using Unity, 6pc Zuni is ...38-48% worse than a standard MoJ/T&T setup ...21% worse than Tiki/Sac The "shocking" is a /s So, you want us to choose between helmet and T&T to use the zuni bonus? NO one will do that. MoJ provides that exact same buff all the time. Carnevil CANNOT do #2, but they can use #1, dropping cain's set and double unity, and thus cannot do solo higher GRs. We'd have to drop unity/soj, drop T&T, and use the zuni ring and RoRG in order to get the 6p and use MoJ, Carnevil, or tiklandian. The issue is, unity is required by higher GRs, in the opinion of every pet doctor I've seen place high on the solo leader boards. Problem: No chance to use zuni 6 piece with TMF, LMF, Tasker and Theo, Mask of Jeram/Tiklandian/Carnevil, and double unity/SoJ. (edit: Zuni gloves need to replace T&T) Suggested solution(s): 0. Make the "zuni pants" actually part of the set (edit because "zuni" pants in the patch notes are not part of the set) 1. Get rid of Zuni helmet 2. And make a Zuni shoulder 3. And make a Zuni glove with +50% pet attack speed legendary passive, in order to free up ring and/or mojo. Mojo is another highly contested spot. Flexibility is good. 9) The Zuni set needs to be stronger than the SMK, and not the other way around. This will bring forth diversity and perhaps finally, the whole list of ceremonial knives can become fun and attractive. Other things: 1. Pets lack AoE and this is a huge problem. Give WD pets Area Damage by default. It could be fetishes gain cleave based on a zuni set bonus. 2. Currently, the zuni 2p bonus sucks. Pet builds don't use mana and +250 int is half of what Helltooth and Jade get. It would be better to get rid of this. 3. A very popular option is to make the zuni 2 piece bonus "Fetish army lasts until they die", rather than requiring 4 pieces of gear to complete the set. This will allow gear flexibility in builds. Zuni could be: 2p Fetish Army Lasts Until They Die 4p Enemies hit by your Mana spenders take 100% more damage from your pets for 4 seconds 6p Fetishes gain the cleave ability, allowing its (melee only?) attacks to hit multiple opponents for 180% of your weapon damage (Note: Not sure how to handle this with Carnevil, will it even affect their darts?) Carnevil perspective: The above 4p is meh and the 6p above won't help them, so they'd be left in the dust. A better set bonus could be the following; it would affect all pet builds equally. Given the IK set where their pets proc 600% weapon damage over 15 yards, I imagine it would be fair to give pets 100% chance at area damage: 2p Fetish Army Lasts Until They Die 4p Pet attacks now do 180% weapon damage in a 7 yard radius. 4) Cleave is not a high-end property and should not be suggested as 6pc bonus. Pets should be able to Cleave or proc Area Damage. Area Damage is a better proposal so that Carnevil darts are not disadvantaged. Maybe 4-5pc bonus is appropriate for this. Some alternative suggestions: 4p: You take 50% less damage as long as you have pets 3p: Reduce the cooldown of fetish army to 20 seconds (See #7 below for why) 5p: Pets take 50% or 75% less damage (See #7 below for why) 5. Little man's finger suggestion: Move the LMF bonus to belt so it doesn't interfere with TMF and unity/soj/rorg This will allow us to have TMF, Fetishes, some gargs; a literal zoo of pets with more diversity than the current FA/FS that dominates the higher GR builds. Please? Pretty Please? 6. Fetish sycophants by default do physical damage. It would be better if they matched the element of your fetish army -OR- matched the highest elemental damage you have, e.g. +40% poison means all FS fetishes do poison damage on their melee attacks. 7. Pet survival: On live servers, pet survival is a serious issue for pet docs not using Tiklandian. I hesitate to bring this up given the new "zuni" pants and how they may make FS fetishes come back quickly. I have made some alternative 4p/5p Zuni bonuses that could be tried out on this PTR. Aside, some Greater Rift Guardians still wipe out pets quite easily. Skeleton King wipes out FA and FS fetishes with his big swing. The spinning dervish RG that reflects missiles can instantly wipe out Carnevil pets and end a run; also it's minions can also reflect missiles to the same effect. Some regular white enemies can as well, such as the Dark Berserker and its giant wind up/avoidable swing. *scribbles notes down furiously* Jeez, this thread has so much feedback-related goodness. I want to thank everyone who’s been posting here constructively, as well as MCP for creating the thread and for encouraging some solid discussion on one of the class sets getting revamped in patch 2.2.0. We’ve been reviewing all the feedback our PTR testers are sharing about content coming in the new patch, especially (but not exclusively) feedback on the new and revamped class sets, including in our Focused Feedback thread. With the above said, I don’t want to interrupt the discussion, so please continue! |
