What the heck is the Vault? I just hit 70 and finally started farming some loots on master and I was spamming the loot button and all of sudden I entered a place called Vault! Millions of gold, tons of gems including legendary and got some legendary gears as well. Some gifts to mail to boot. Did I just win a lotto? I switched to T1 shortly after realizing I'm here to loot lol. What fun that was!
yes theres a small chance that when you kill a treasure goblin it will open a portal to the vault, you can only get there by killing treasure goblins. Im paragon 200+ and ive got myself into 3 vaults as of now, so its VERY rare.....oh and that portal can only spawn in adventure mode so dont think you can get it in story mode as well.

the vault is mainly for the boon of hoarder gem. nothing else interesting in there.
by the way, i got a boon gem from a regular greater rift yesterday. didn't know in console boon of hoarder just drops from RG in grifts. i was worried that i had to farm for the vault. but if you must see the vault, your best bet is act 3 goblin farming. it's quite rare. i've only seen it 5-6 times total in 1400 plvls (hc + sc combined). if you are hunting for this, get ready to get frustrated. good luck
I checked how many Goblins I had killed under Challenges prior to 2.1 patch and then take note of how many I killed currently and subtracted the two to work out how many I have killed after patch 2.1 which is when they introduced The Vault.
I play only in Hardcore and it seems to drop far less on there than in Softcore. I have the Gem from a Greater rift (much to my displeasure as what is the point of The Vault) but I just want to chalk up a kill versus Greed. I play pretty much every day for 2 hours and more at weekends and as I say I've never seen it...I always do at least 5 bounty's a day to get once cache and always encounter about 3 or 4 goblins in Adventure Mode but nothing... During the week long double goblin buff I killed over 150 goblins by doing just bounty's and never saw it once...
I'm sure you will eventually bud, without even trying.
Damn, you can check how many you killed? How? Is there a stats page I've missed?

We wanted to make sure that players who had somehow missed the portal still had a chance to get the gem, and it goes a long way to help Hardcore players, too.

Does this mean that if I got the gem from a rift guardian (Greater rift guardian actually) without having entered the Vault before, I had previously missed a Vault portal in one of my games?
If what Grimiku is saying is true, then you seem to have missed the Vault portal somehow. Thing is though, Vault portal is very very obvious in its presentation on both map and the portal itself. Not sure how you could've missed it. Most likely scenario I could think of would be where 4 players are rushing Adventure mode on normal in Act 1 for a chance at Grandeur ring.

I'll even add that whilst I power level on softcore to help others I've NEVER EVER been online in Hardcore and it is Hardcore that I have been playing for the last 3 months thus there is no way I could have ever been in an online game that had a portal open... And I would not have missed a portal to The Vault solo considering I've been trying to get in there since 2.1 was released. Thank you for letting us know about this. We're looking into a small number of situations similar to this to find out why Boon of the Hoarder is sometimes dropping outside of the Vault in situations we didn't intend it to. I'll be sure to let you all know more about it once we have more info to share.

Excuse me whilst I be sick... Killed 314 goblin since patch 2.1...not seen The Vault once.... That's unfortunate :( I've been super lucky, seen 5 vaults, 2 in hardcore and 3 in softcore. Never seen the cow level though :) 1 year of solid playing rifts, not one cow level. I saw it in the beta twice..
i just did a vault run.
got there and was thinking, "what the hell is this??????" it gave me little over 13,000,000 of gold, 29 imperial gems, 1 legendary gem, 1 training guide for flawless royal topaz and about 10 pieces of legendary armor and weapons. i found the goblin, who got me there, in "besieged tower level 1" right in the beginning. be prepared to have some clean underwear ready because i came out my butt-hole cuz i was to bust pissing myself.
You can farm for the vault, i.e. farm for goblins. ' When doing this make sure you are on a torment level you can easily handle. Then don't forget the "gold find gear". This made a big difference on my second vault trip. Also consider a broken crown (makes an extra gem drop matching the one socketed to crown) Make the most of your visit with gear and it will really help your game.
