[GENERAL INFO]

Grimiku: Tell us a bit about yourself.

TastySouP: Hey,

I'm 24 years old, was born and raised in Canada. I graduated as an Electronics Engineering Technologist and have been working for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation for the past 5 years. I'm part of a group of 5 guys, we work with many other departments to maintain the digital radio infrastructure for CBC. We manage the software, servers, some studio equipment and the work stations people use to edit audio clips. It's been a great experience, I've learned a lot, and I feel very fortunate to work with a great team.

As you may have guessed, I rather enjoy soup. The best soup is Miso soup, so tasty and simple to make. I also love Lobster Tomato Bisque, but lobster costs soooo much.

Grimiku: Got any cool hobbies or talents?

TastySouP: I've been drumming and skateboarding for the past 12 years.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Here's the intro clip to a video some friends and I created after we lost a really close friend. If skateboarding's your thing check it out! Our group is fortunate to skate with some really talented people; TJ Rogers, Bobby De Keyzer, Dillon Moore ^.^
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxdBK7PlAxQ

Here's one of his dirty secrets, this was one of his favourite song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcOxhH8N3Bo
You could pull the headphones out of his ears any time he was skating, you could almost guarantee it was this song. Kinda suiting considering what happened. RIP Dougy! <3

I also enjoy camping, portaging, hiking and travelling in general. Back in September a group of friends and I went Backpacking/Hostel Hopping in Switzerland for 3 weeks. Then we ventured through different parts of Germany as we meandered our way up to the Netherlands. Our first stop in Germany was Ulm, we visited and climbed the worlds tallest Steeple. We next visited an old Training Camp, Vogelsang, that happened to be on our way up to the Netherlands. My family has a pretty big military background and all my grandparents were involved in WWII, in some way, be active duty, or just a civilian stuck in the thick of it, so I had interest in seeing some sort of war era place. While in the Netherlands spent most of our time in Amsterdam for......various reasons...... Who am I kidding, we all know why we were there ^.^

We don't have a lot of pictures other than in Switzerland, but here's an album if you're interested. It's all low quality smart phone pics, we were camping, so we tried to be minimal:

Grimiku: I'm going to admit that I listened to that song in its entirety more than once while formatting this post. Ok, onto the next question. How long have you been playing Diablo games?

TastySouP: I first played diablo at my cousins house, he had his rogue leveled up and he let me play. I was pretty young at that time so I was a little clueless. I spent a couple months playing Diablo 1 but never accomplished anything. I didn't play Diablo 2 right when it came out, I played when LoD launched. For the first little while I only really played on Open Battle.net, mostly just being handed gear and without really an idea of why/what was going on. Eventually as I got older and met people in game that helped me out, I was able to figure things out.

A man named Elsedeon introduced me to the trading aspect of the game and I was hooked from there. I spent a lot of time theorycrafitng but had no idea how to get the items, so showing me the trading and economy aspect of the game was a big deal. In the end, my brother and I worked together to create chars/runs we found fun and efficient to accumulate wealth under varying conditions (new chars, new account, new season, ect). We stuck with the Bowazon a lot, not sure why.

In the last few years that I played D2 I spent my time creating different specs that could take down the Uber Tristram event. I also worked with a friend to hunt the Diablo Clone. Most people left the killing job up time Smiters but a buddy and I made quite a few chars that could handle the events. It was fun.

My favourite was an Amazon using the Trolls Nest and a really nice Rare spear I found. Between a 50% chance to dodge and 50% chance to block, I negated 75% of the incoming damage and was able to LifeTap/Fend/Crushing Blow the ubers down.

Grimiku: Do you play any other classes?

TastySouP: I haven't really touched many of the other classes since RoS launched. I mostly enjoy the attacks and sutterstepping mechanics of range classes, so I've stuck with the DH as they best accommodate this. I would love to see the Barb's range gameplay improved though. They have some really cool range skills but such little gear to synergize with the attacks. I would love to see something like this implemented:
Madawc's Prophecy (Set):
______________________________________________________
Madawc's Deftness (1-handed Axe):
Secondary:
Weapon Throw gains the effect of the Ricochet Rune

Madawc's Vociferation (1-handed Might Weapon):
Secondary:
Chance to cast War Cry when Weapon Throw hits a target

Set Bonus:
(2) Set:
Weapon Throw now throws two weapons
______________________________________________________

Or even a 6pc set dedicated to Barb Range skills. Diablo 2 had some awesome range gear that barbs could take advantage of, I'd love to see it become viable again. Double Throw Barbs with Warshrikes? Yes please!

Grimiku: What’s your history as a gamer?

TastySouP: Good ol' NES. I remember when my grandpa first showed me Duck Hunt at his house. After that my parents bought my siblings and I a console of our own and it started from there. Platformers are the bane of my existence when it comes to gaming, I'm so bad at them. I kid you not, I couldn't beat Megaman with a Gameshark enabling Infinite lives and Invincibility, I played for hours on end and had to give up. Yea I was that bad >.<

Next came Nintendo 64, I gamed that for years, Mario 64 is the best. Smash bros, Podracers and Starfox are pretty awesome too. This was proceeded by a PS2 and our very first "gaming computer" for the family. From then on I've kind of only really cared for PC gaming. Although, I still have my console exclusives I have to keep up to date with; I can't wait for Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3.

Grimiku: What some of your other favorite games and why?

TastySouP: Final Fantasy series: I've played a majority of them and they've always been hit or miss for me. So I'll always give them a chance.

Kingdom Hearts has been a big one too. My dad bought it for us on the PS2 thinking it was a card game and I remember watching my younger brother playing it. I thought it looked so childish and foolish I could hardly care. I grew up with Disney, and a bit of Final Fantasy, so my curiosity grew for the game over time as I watched my little bro play. In the end, it ended up being my favourite story driven game series to date.

I also used to play a tooooon of SC2 Wings of Liberty, but I just didn't enjoy Heart of the Swarm. I haven't really played since then.

Grimiku: Are you in an awesome clan or community? If yes, tell us about them!

TastySouP: I'm an officer in the Prime Assassins Clan. We originally started out as a small group of friends back in 1.04+ that came together using Teamspeak as well as a website set up by our original Clan Leader Dieoxide. We focused towards optimizing and perfecting our range game play in a time where it was said that face tanking was a must and the only way to play the DH. We also tried to focus on getting the most out of any spec, as well as gameplay mechanics like sutterstepping.

We've had some turbulence in the past, some things happened that I now regret and feel might not have been necessary in the end, when clans were first added to Diablo. Many members have joined since then and things are starting to smooth out and the clans a lot healthier.

Grimiku: What's your most embarrassing moment while playing?

TastySouP: In the past 24 hours or all of playing? There are far too many to count >.< I have a tendency to re-spawn during obviously really bad times and get myself chain killed. Things that really shouldn't happen if I just took two seconds to think, but the revive button is soooo tempting >.<

Grimiku: Okay, what about your most AWESOME moment while playing?

TastySouP: I remember one time during 1.07-1.08, the time of Crypt and Fields of Misery runs, a friend of mine Stormz and I were in a pub game with two other DHs. Stormz was on his Monk, and at the time I was running a perma-Shadow Glide with Suppression Fire+Punishment spec. The other two DHs were spec'd as the cookie cutter Bombardment spec from back then. Before the run even started the other 2 DHs complained I wasn't using the Bombardment spec and told me/stormz I was going to hold the group back a ton.

While clearing the FoM, we ended up fighting quite a few elite packs at once and the game started to get really sloppy. With constant stutterstepping and good use of Suppression Fire+Punishment I was able to survive the whole fight along side Stormz. The other DHs spent the whole duration of the fight as either a Dead Flag or running back to meet up with us. They kept getting killed by charging bulls because Bombardment was forcing them to stand still. Stormz and I just chuckled as we reminded ourselves that I was holding the other two dead corpses back from clearing the run efficiently. More than anything, I was happy that my efforts to learn Stutterstepping had paid off and this is definite proof of it.

[VENGEANCE IS MINE]

Grimiku: What drew you to the Demon Hunter?

TastySouP: I spent most of my time in Diablo 2 playing as a Bowazon, so naturally I was drawn towards the Demon Hunter. I was fortunate that both my brothers had a blizzard account so I signed them all up for Diablo 3 Vanilla's Beta. Luckily one of the accounts got in and I got to participate ^.^

The DH performed like the Amazon, but also felt like the Assassin from D2. The Assassin was my second fav class, so naturally I was sold and haven't looked back. There was a brief point in D3 that I mained a Barb, but that was when the WW spec was to good and I needed a way to efficiently gear my DH. After the DH was set up the barb took the back seat.

Grimiku: How do you prefer to exact vengeance: do you trap your prey with sentries and snares, or eliminate them from just out of reach with well-placed arrows?

TastySouP: I like to snare my enemies and eliminate them with arrows launched well out of their range.

Grimiku: What's your favorite skill (or skill rune), and why?

TastySouP: Hmm, this is opening a can of worms for me:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/class/demon-hunter/passive/cull-the-weak
Cull the Weak was once without a doubt my favourite skill, but this has changed for very unfortunate reasons since RoS launched. Cold damage used to slow enemies, and skills that dealt "weapon damage" used to proc the cold affect and slow enemies enabling CtW. This allowed us to use over 55 different runes to maintain the debuff. with the launch of RoS, this game mechanic has been completely removed. If anyone's wondering what I'm talking about you can check out this guide I wrote about the subject:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/9308901329?page=1#1
** Reminders that it is outdated since RoS launched. **

Since Cull the Weak isn't what it once was, I'd say Rapid Fire (Strafe in D2) and Multishot for pure nostalgic reasons, I loved those skills in Diablo 2.

Grimiku: What build are you running currently?

TastySouP: Quite a few different builds at the moment. Depends on my mood ^.^
**all chars might not be fully geared, I swap some "better" pieces between chars**

Grim Sever:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TastySouP-1157/hero/3096708
This spec focuses on trying to kill an enemy that has MFD-Grim Reaper applied to it. The killing blow will proc Severs massive crit and MFD-Grim Reaper will spread the damage. I'm still no where near properly geared for this spec, but if you're interested Bladezero has written a guide on it:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/12946065033#1

Immolation Arrow+Buriza:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TastySouP-1157/hero/34237651
This specs been gaining some popularity on the forums recently. Basically, you use immolation arrow to procs items like Tear Drop Gem, Ess of Johan and what ever else quite efficiently. It provides great damage and awesome crowd control.

Dual Wield M6:
http://us.battle.net/d3/en/profile/TastySouP-1157/hero/56631924
Nothing special here, just regular M6. I've always been a huge buff for DWing with the DH, it just looks B@D@$$!

Grimiku: What’s the next item you’re after, and how will it help your build?

TastySouP: For Grim Sever, I'm going to need to find an Ancient Sever using my Monk. This has proven to be quite time consuming. He also needs a Physical Lidless Wall of any quality. Both of these will provide a substantial DPS increase.

IA+Buriza, I need a 2 pierce ancient Buriza above all else at the moment. I've found 3 solid Ancient 1 Pierce Buriza's but I souled them. I really need that 2 pierce >.<

My DWing DH is doing okay, but same thing as the other 2, I need my weapons as ancient versions.

Grimiku: Does your Demon Hunter have a theme song for wrecking vengeance?

TastySouP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbqxazYJp_U
Keep calm, exercise Discipline and control your Hatred ^.^

buuuut.... I'll always be a metal head at heart, gotta get the adrenaline flowing from time to time. I've been obsessed with this album again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLZM1Lp_AdY

↑↑ 99% of the world's population will hate this, and it is definitely NSFW. You've been warned ^.^

Grimiku: How do you find the patch 2.1.2 new M6?

TastySouP: I actually really enjoy this change! Very well executed IMO.

I'm probably gonna receive flak for this but, I had made a couple threads requesting that M6's damage potential got adjusted from being so static. In the old form, there was without a doubt a definitive "BiS Spec" that produced the most damage. There was no theorycrafting, there was hardly any gameplay and the old M6 destroyed any chance for diversity within the DH because of how calculated the damage output used to be. I personally didn't have issues with the gameplay style, but the damage was completely disproportionate in regards to Risk vs Reward. The reward was to high for almost no risk, relative to the risk other specs/classes had to deal with.

In the end, I think the new set strikes a great balance of risk vs reward. It's actually helped out my Grim Sever spec a lot by boosting the Sever Crit by many magnitudes. I love what it's done to the forums too though; there's a lot of variance between peoples M6 specs now and a lot of healthy "what if" threads have been popping up. It's nice to see this again.

Now we just need more sets! I can't wait for Unhallowed Essence. I'd love to see the Shadow's set get revamped, it really needs more pieces in it, preferably as a Quiver, Bracers or both. I really don't like that all the sets only have graphical pieces, in other words, its impossible to mix sets. I'd love to use Shadow's Set with Unhallowed Essence, but there aren't enough slots to even include 3pc Shadow+5pc Unhallowed+Royal Ring. Sets really need to start incorporating random slots, for example, Natalya's Set is great because of the Ring and Weapon. It's nice that there's an option to slot these items for some set bonuses while you mix in other 6 piece sets.

Grimiku: Name one piece of advice that you think every Demon Hunter should know:

TastySouP: Don't stop! Believin' ! >.< I really don't like Journey >.<

But seriously, don't stop moving. Stutterstepping can be tough at first, but gets easier over time and if RSI are a problem, keep a movement buff skill available for fast use.

[WHO'S NEXT?]

Grimiku: Which Demon Hunter should we interview next?

TastySouP: http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Impreza-2701/career

I'd like to hear from one of our fellow EU Demon Hunters, Impreza. He's been an avid poster on the US forums since D3 Vanilla and still around with us for RoS. It'd be great to hear from him.

Grimiku: Pick a question to ask in the next interview!

TastySouP: If you could change Shadow Power's base mechanic, what would you change it to and why?
